I'm looking forward to bringing the camper down and hosting a couple of great friends. However, there may be some downtime between Thursday afternoon when I get there and Saturday. Are there any good fishin' holes nearby where I might catch dinner one night? Talking bluegill, crappie, white bass, heck even bullhead can be made to taste good.
Looking forward to a great weekend and seeing some people I haven't seen in a few years.

Well Jason your best bet will be Pierce Lake, its inside Rock Cut State Park, a friend of mine caught a record Northern out of there when we were kids. The only other place I can think of is Windsor Lake in Loves Park but thats private (used to sneak in there all the time and fish in my younger years). There is Pearl Lake in So. Beloit which is a man made lake (filled quarry) but Im not sure as they even allow fishing there, its mostly a swim beach/scuba facility. And there is allways the Rock River, but you said to catch dinner, and I myself would NEVER eat any fish caught out of that thing. Hope this helps you out.

Jason, I haven't received my invitation or call from you yet.

Thanks for the fishing info... if Pierce lake is inside the state park, do I need to buy a park pass as well as an Illinois temp fishing license? Is that little creek still near the track? Does that lead anywhere or is that the river you were talking about?
Jimbo... you are always welcome without an invitation. Stop on by the rolling crate and pop a top!

If all your going to do is fish you wont need to buy a pass or anything like. You will need to get a fishing license regardless. If you plan on camping there you will have to pay for that. Not sure the cost of that. Yes the creek is still there, and Im sure at some point it ends up at the Rock River. Rebel, Im not sure about showers there, Im not much for camping so I've never done it there.

FYI The Rock is a public park and camping is only allowed during big races. There are NO showers !! They do have portapots to do your duty in and little portable hand washing stations. So unless you know someone stating in a hotel where you can shower, you will be doing the good old fasion ruffing it. Have fun !! Bring extra cologne or body wash soap so you can smell fresh....LMAO
If you are camping at Rock Cut State Park there are showers !!
