I totally agree. I am not a huge OG Mongoose fan, but I never would have done that. I know someone would have treated her right and I would have let it go.

To add insult to injury, it looks like the bike was cleaned before burning...are we sure this wasn't some type of sacrifice to the Mongoose God?

The only reasons I say photoshop are in the two pics where the bike is whole and he starts a fire under the seat, there are no char marks on the seatpost when you see it dut up later. The seat does have some black marks but it is plastic and it should have melted some. There are also no char marks on the the frame where the top tube meets the seatmast and in the one pic it is completely engulfed in flames.
Last summer I sold a Hutch Expert racer frame on E-bay. The buyer only wanted the brake bridge to make a keychain. He told me to cut it up and send him the brake bridge. I did as requested. The rest of the cut up frame is sitting in my garage. The frame did have some cracks in the bottom bracket and a small dent. It was repairable but he won the auction and thats what he wanted.

If starting a bike on fire will get a firefighter that looks this good to show up, then I need to find a few to torch.

I really dont get this. I mean we all have our pet brands and such but just because I am not a huge Goose fan does not mean I do not respect their place in BMX history. I would have tried to find someone who would have loved her for her. I NEVER would do that! Seriously, it is disrespectful and immature. Does anyone wanna share what the story behind this is?

I agree, there are some people out there that are just not happy unless they are doing something to cause trouble or start an argument with someone else.
I can see taking a modern department store bike that is ready for the trash or something and having some fun but NEVER a vintage bike and especially one that is in nice shape.
I collect vintage model cars from the late 50’s and 60’s and when you find rare mint kits or mint sealed kits, you leave them as they are. I know a few people that come to the model shows and will purposely buy a rare sealed kit or a rare mint kit and will sit there and open it and remove the parts from the trees just to get a rise out of others. I never understood these kind of people.

Allright. What's the story behind this, and who's doing the burning? I want some info, 'cause right now I'm a little bummed. Why not just give the bike to a fellow member who is a goose fan? Ben Joy would never do something like this. In fact, this guy is the anti-Ben Joy.

Surely you people understand that bikes from different eras dont have the same value to everyone.
I started out on stingrays when i was real young and hated them because mongooses were THE thing. Obviously I dont have the same appreciation for stingrays as say, someone who raced back when there was only stingrays to ride. This guy doesnt care for Mongooses so he really doesnt care what happens to it. For you people asking why didnt he just give it to so and so, that would take some level of appreciation for the bike and the fact he is destroying it, pretty much says he has none. He's just another innernet idiot doing something for attention. Some people dont get enough of it IRL so they compensate for it online. The net is full of these idiots.

This is amusing, would it have been different if this post was April 1? I'm pretty sure the outrage voiced by a couple of the posters is as real as this frame ending up as scrap. I think someone needs to build a 29" Goose, all the other sizes have been done. Shingle, bust out the Trickstar photo, lets see some true outrage.

You are correct, he is an idiot.
I don’t collect vintage Barbie dolls either but you wouldn’t see me out there burning them. You got to have respect for history and all collectables whether or not it is your thing or not. People like this are the ones demanding respect in life, but they have no idea how to give it.

Maybe the guy's son got bad grades for spending all his time on the bike, so he was doing away with the bike to set an example to the kid j/k
