I totally agree. I am not a huge OG Mongoose fan, but I never would have done that. I know someone would have treated her right and I would have let it go.

Are we making a pit, or a 24?

It looks like they figured since the chain fell off it was broken.

YEAH...I looked at the pedals too. But I would never have burned a bike. There is just no point in destroying something of use.

To add insult to injury, it looks like the bike was cleaned before burning...are we sure this wasn't some type of sacrifice to the Mongoose God?

Kind of like they used to do in the middle ages...does anyone remember DragonSlayer? ohmy.gif
dsmith
...oakley 3's,dx pedals,acs hubs(looks like),front brakes and it's chrome...geeezzzz

LOL.... i remember this. This is what happens when members start slagging each other and negative topics get WAY out of control. No good ever comes from it. I bet he wished he didnt do it as he would of made hundreds from selling it on ebay now!!

I can ASSURE it is NOT PHOTSHOP. ITS REAL.

WHERE AS THESE WERE PHOTOSHOP'ed

COASTY
That would be the pics I was thinking of Waza. I remember it very clearly now.
He's still a member here too...

The only reasons I say photoshop are in the two pics where the bike is whole and he starts a fire under the seat, there are no char marks on the seatpost when you see it dut up later. The seat does have some black marks but it is plastic and it should have melted some. There are also no char marks on the the frame where the top tube meets the seatmast and in the one pic it is completely engulfed in flames.

Last summer I sold a Hutch Expert racer frame on E-bay. The buyer only wanted the brake bridge to make a keychain. He told me to cut it up and send him the brake bridge. I did as requested. The rest of the cut up frame is sitting in my garage. The frame did have some cracks in the bottom bracket and a small dent. It was repairable but he won the auction and thats what he wanted.

Er Coasty, it couldn't be a certain someone who has posted lately is it, and sold a lot on Ebay? Surely not??

Waz, are you related to that firefighter? smile.gif
KenC
If starting a bike on fire will get a firefighter that looks this good to show up, then I need to find a few to torch.

(I think I’ll start with a Walgoose though)

There for a second, I thought those were mach 1 forks.

That's possibly one of the most childish things I have seen from a seemingly grown man
sonikk71
I really dont get this. I mean we all have our pet brands and such but just because I am not a huge Goose fan does not mean I do not respect their place in BMX history. I would have tried to find someone who would have loved her for her. I NEVER would do that! Seriously, it is disrespectful and immature. Does anyone wanna share what the story behind this is?
waza007
Its what happens when unstable people get into heated slagging matches on forums. They do this sh1t just to antagonize the othe parties..... and provoke a reaction, knowing thats they are hundreds, even thousands of miles away from the other party.

Holy smokes, there is a bike in that photo! I didn't even notice the first time.

It's amazing how much work it took to destroy the thing. If it were a cheap bike, he could have just bent it in half.
Bob Poffinbarger
hey Jeff V, I think I know who has that Hutch Trickstar in half. I believe Big John has that in his attic.

I agree, there are some people out there that are just not happy unless they are doing something to cause trouble or start an argument with someone else.

I can see taking a modern department store bike that is ready for the trash or something and having some fun but NEVER a vintage bike and especially one that is in nice shape.

I collect vintage model cars from the late 50’s and 60’s and when you find rare mint kits or mint sealed kits, you leave them as they are. I know a few people that come to the model shows and will purposely buy a rare sealed kit or a rare mint kit and will sit there and open it and remove the parts from the trees just to get a rise out of others. I never understood these kind of people.
jipster43
Allright. What's the story behind this, and who's doing the burning? I want some info, 'cause right now I'm a little bummed. Why not just give the bike to a fellow member who is a goose fan? Ben Joy would never do something like this. In fact, this guy is the anti-Ben Joy.

I never got the whole story from Warren but as far as I understand, he's just some strange guy from Australia who is most likely suffering from some sort of depression or personal void in his life.

Surely you people understand that bikes from different eras dont have the same value to everyone.

I started out on stingrays when i was real young and hated them because mongooses were THE thing. Obviously I dont have the same appreciation for stingrays as say, someone who raced back when there was only stingrays to ride. This guy doesnt care for Mongooses so he really doesnt care what happens to it. For you people asking why didnt he just give it to so and so, that would take some level of appreciation for the bike and the fact he is destroying it, pretty much says he has none. He's just another innernet idiot doing something for attention. Some people dont get enough of it IRL so they compensate for it online. The net is full of these idiots.
RandyS
This is amusing, would it have been different if this post was April 1? I'm pretty sure the outrage voiced by a couple of the posters is as real as this frame ending up as scrap. I think someone needs to build a 29" Goose, all the other sizes have been done. Shingle, bust out the Trickstar photo, lets see some true outrage.

You are correct, he is an idiot.

I don’t collect vintage Barbie dolls either but you wouldn’t see me out there burning them. You got to have respect for history and all collectables whether or not it is your thing or not. People like this are the ones demanding respect in life, but they have no idea how to give it.

Maybe the guy's son got bad grades for spending all his time on the bike, so he was doing away with the bike to set an example to the kid j/k smile.gif
