A friend of mine gave me a well used Robinson Rebel GT that had been passed on to him by his neighbor who was moving out of town and didn't want to fool with this old gem. I kept it under cover for quite a while knowing it was going to take some time and effort to bring it back from the dead. I have now finished restoring it and for the amateur that I am, I think it came out pretty sweet. My thing is, I am not a BMX guru. I just fiddle around with bikes that need help and then pass them on to folks who might have an interest in them. Any feedback I can get on this one would be appreciated. It carries a serial #YC46090393. I'm attaching some pix for reference. Thanks for the look see.

It looks good. How are we supposed to know how good of a job you did without before pics?
Did you take pics when you got it? It looks good and I'm sure the rear reflector is for purely functional reasons. Correct?
Do you know what year it is?

Hind sight is 20/20. Just a dumbbell, best I can say. No before pics. But, I can tell you this. Most people would have kicked this bike to the curb. Surface rust, dirt, yuk, trash tires, the rear brake cable had been broken at the caliper, and the owner jury rigged it with a piece of heavy wire. Bolts and nuts were nasty, just a mess. After I tried a little elbow grease, I realized it was salvageable. As to the year, that's what I'm searching for here. I misquoted the serial number. It is YC96090393. I'm just guessing, but possibly the last 4 digits represent the year model. So maybe it is 03/93? The rear reflector on the wheel spokes? Shoot, what do I know. I guess on the BMX, that's a no/no right. They are easily removed.... Thanks for the feedback.

Is it worth anything to a Vintage collector, or is it even "vintage" being, what, 13 years old? Someone questioned the front brake calipers? Most of these bikes I see on the net only have rear brakes. Wonder what that's all about? At the end of the day I don't plan on keeping it. Where's the best market for selling it? By the way, thanks for the feedback....appreciate anything I can get. One last question. The "Made in America" decal it had on it when I got it is bogus if I understand you correctly?

Not vintage but a nice rider. I wouldn't say it was a collectible.

front brake is probably stock. a lot of the lower-end GT made bikes had them.
there used to be a legal loophole (which has since been fixed) companies could exploit to label imported stuff as "made in USA". so, yes, that decal is a false statement. i doubt there is a single part on those bikes that was really made here.

well to the best of my knowlrdge it was bent and tig welded here in ol USA it was an american racer, sold only by upscale bike shops, hence Robinson no longer in buisness, the front brake is not stock thats an add-on,it need true gum wall tire and some clear grips so you can read the robinson decals through them on the bars, not bad theat a mild steel chrome frame i believe the sst and pro seires are the true 4130 chro-mo frames with the pro series having a true closed loop tail section not the fake like the rebel and sst but that really loooks like an sst with that sprocket set up???

those are taiwan serials and the brake is stock. i sold those bikes for many years. the USA frames had a different serial # scheme (and location).
only the 1988 and earlier frames had a true loop.
