Everything is period correct, except the brake cable, brake shoes, and chain are new. I have the correct bars, but am using Powerlites for now.
Oh, and ofcourse the decal set is repro.
Open to tips/suggestions, but this is my first build, so go easy on me smile.gif

Well done.

Hey! they didnt use chain tensioners back then! tongue.gif

Very nice dave. Love those anodized rims. I'm still on the hunt for a pair for my recent californian acquisition.

Did you ever find out the deal with why some have all yellow decals and some had the multi colored? I was checking the vintagemongoose catalogs for em and they all show them having multicolored. Mine also have the all yellow ones and they look factory. its a mystery for sure!
yamahadave
No idea on the decals- wish I knew.
I value opinions on the board, so thank you for the compliment.

Nice job Bro good3.gif

They might not have used those exact same tensioners back in the day, but we definitely used them. They usually came off Raleigh 3 speeds and similar bikes and ran them in the mid-70s

That came out great, Nice build!!! cool.gif

They were all multicolored when new- the red fades out leaving them yellow. I can remember them fading to yellow when those frames were only a couple of years old BITD... mine did!

Are you absolutely sure????
That would definitely explain it.
I was sticker happy as a kid, and dont remember any yellow ones.
I guess we need to get a set of repros and do an excellerated ultra violet test on 'em.

Someone tell Robert Stack to cancel that episode of Unsolved Mysteries. This case is closed!

Very nice job Dave! The Goose is loose! drinks.gif

Did you soak that frame in vinegar?
BenOr
1974 Yamaha Motobike A model (as well as B and C) used tentioners. wink.gif So why can't those new school bikes use them as well?

yamahadave
Yes, it had a vinegar bath. Thanks for the tip smile.gif

GREAT JOB! Very inspiring. There's been a lot of talk lately about the stickers. This is a project I have and I know the stickers are original. Maybe it is fading....

yamahadave
Just a warning- I learned the hard way that a vinegar bath CAN be too long. Left the frame in for 18hrs, and the chrome started to flake off in one spot. luckily, it was where a decal covered.
rumblerdave
Anyone besides me actually PREFER the look of the faded all yellow decals? Maybe it's just because thats how I remember my Goose looking... scratch_one-s_head.gif
