OHHH MAN THATS NICE!!!!!!
I dig the pictures to. Kinda reminds me of bitd and being in the woods riding some hidden trails. Then you and your friends just park your bikes against trees and hang out.
We did that weekly at a riding spot in the forest.
Awesome work..........

LMAO!
Funny, I got an email once last year from some guy who saw one of the '76 Mongoose builds I had done.
He said that back in the 70's in Biloxi, Mississippi , the neighborhood bullies would ride around on their "extra gusset Geese" and continued to do so into the early 80's!
Thanks for the comments guys.

It's true. That's why I've never had a mongoose. All the filth rode around on Mongooses. I think I know the
Exact people he was talking about, but Mongooses were everywhere before '83.
I grew up in Biloxi.

That's not the point. The point is that I GREW UP THERE, In the 70's and can verify what that guy said. I probably know that guy.
There were nice kids, too, who had Geese.

HEY!! I grew up and STILL LIVE in Biloxi...and yep, its true. Except I grew to be friends with them. They were pretty harmless, just your typical long hair van halen wairin' stoner types. The ring leader had a killer supergoose by 1981...I built a replica a few years back in rememberance...

mongoosedrummer...who PM'd you that comment?
Lonewolf
May 16 2009, 11:43 AM
I remember an older guy to me with a Supergoose. Do you remember a guy who had a Supergoose with Yellow and gold?
Seems like every third word out of their mouths was Supergoose this, Supergoose that.
I lived on Linda drive, off Atkinson, about 1/2 mile from Pops Ferry, Rd.
I lived a block from the Back Bay and about 1 mile from Pops Ferry elementary (an entrance to Hell).
What is your Name, Man?

HOLY CRAP LONEWOLF!!! Ok, I lived on Donwood Dr., right off off Jim Money rd. We rode all over Atkinson, Popps Ferry, Pass rd., hung out at the Sonic (we had jumps and trails behind the Sonic)...lived there from 1980-1983. What did you ride? I had a nickle mongoose then a team goose with red parts...then a chrome and black Diamond Back. We HAD to know each other, or at least seen each other at some point. This is unreal.

Dude, You might be one of the bullies! From your picture, you would have been one of the older kids and you may have known Gary Hopkins.
I had a Black Rampar and then A Chrome Diamondback Silver streak with black parts. I had a twin named Carter and he had a blue Rampar and then a chrome and black Silver Streak.
One year every kid got Diamondbacks. Like '82 or '83. We moved in '83
The Sonic had closed well before I got my Diamondback, but I can remember sliding in the gravel parking lot of the public pool at Hiller Park. I had my own pool, so I didn't go there unless it was to try to pick up the nearly adult, female lifeguards.
I used to think I was impressing them by doing long coaster brake slides!
I was one of the "Diamondback twins". (Richard and Carter)
I knew Steve Coker GT
Clay Jones Torker
Jeremy Hopkins Diamondback
Trey Higgins Hutch
Leonard Bentz
Paul Collins
Cristian Cannon
Chris Edmonsten
We used to go riding IN THE MALL just to get security to chase us. -Never got caught.
We hung out with this guy named William Baxter, from Ocean Springs, who was at least two years older than us and he would always drag us into some crazy situations. The numbers caught up to William and he is no longer with us.
I can also remember riding my Rampar in that massive vacant Lot next to "Our Lady of Fatima" church (on Pass Rd.) which was actually a real motocross trail complete with berms, just East of the Sonic, past the apartment complex. I remember the sand being too thick to really ride in, but I did anyway.
I used to ride all over by age 6, so we DID run into one another, at some point. I was everywhere, including North of the Pop's Ferry bridge, the beach, Keesler, all the way to the Naval Air station. I OWNED Biloxi and there wasn't a casino in sight.
This pic is from '81:

That's Awesome. Steve was a year ahead of us and more into freestyle (and was awesome) but I came back a couple of years later to visit and blew his doors of in a drag race. He saw my #1 plate and questioned if I was really a State Champion. I showed him I was.
Alex, I wish I remembered you better. Steve was our Hero! He had the best dad in the world.
You can call me but certainly have Steve call me.

I'll be waiting, Alex.
Those aren't decals. The were masked from the paint. It's a stickerless "stealth" goose. No stickers= Lower observability.

Awesome stories here guys, I love it! The Biloxi Mongoose Mafia thread!

Great to see you guys hooking up here from your old neighborhood after so many years! Very cool!
I still love the idea that the 1970's bullies in Biloxi all rode Mongoose... Classic. I'm sure there were many towns all over the place with tough guys who terrorized their neighborhoods on their Geese. I know I did! BITD (even where I lived) having a Mongoose was like owning a Harley for a teenager... You kind of had to "live up" to the bike!
For those curious, this "decal free" Black Bird was originally a brilliant nickel '76 frame that was plated by my friend who does the stuff for Orange County Choppers. Another friend of mine who happens to be a proud US Marine (Cheers buddy!), made up a few sets of what we call Mongoose "Skeleton Decals".
Essentially, they are the logo, letters and graphics without any background or color. They were applied to the nickel frame, then it was coated in matte black and finally the "skeleton decals" were removed leaving the "negative" of the logos/lettering etc. in the original nickel.
Here's a picture of the "skeleton decals" applied directly over a "Bully Orange" Goose:

Yeah, that's cool. I've seen pics of your stash, your wifes green goose, the lineup of hung frames on a wall. You have a lot of loose geese. I've seen this Orage one as well. -You even have a Mongoose for when you go deer hunting.

It looks really good though.
And yes. It
was a Mongoose Mafia rolling in Biloxi. Lot's of big kids on geese. They were older, bigger and often of suspect character. It makes it sound like there were more than there actually was, but the bad kids were riding old geese and even Yamaha Moto bikes. The really older kids had nice Supergooses and were starting to get their driver's licenses.
