After searching for the last 7-8 years I have finally scored a Brooklyn Machine Works cruiser frame. I've spent countless hours searching to globe for one of these. I've only seen two on ebay. Included in this score was a set of Snot Rocket brakes with the brake brace, Brooklyn BMX stem and the Brooklyn 1" seat post. The frame is on decent shape but will get a new powder job as soon as I can find a decent place to get it done. The color you see and the one it will remain is called blueberry syrup. It kind of looks like clear coat over blue, but it's actually just a one step process with a color called blueberry syrup. This frame is one of the first batches to come out of BMW as it does not have a serial number. This was confirmed today after talking with Joe, the guy that designed the frame. Christmas in May for me.

Awesome! I'd love to have one of these too...The forks are freakin awesome too...I'm sure you will be on the search for a set...

98210sucks on Ebay had a 24" BMX fork. I am so jealous of your BMW, those have to be one of the sickest cruisers ever! you have to use the Shinburger pedals too!

Outfrickinstanding score!!!!!!!

That thing is a GRAIL I say, you must keep us up to date on that baby. Plus where you keep it, what times you are generally not home, if you have any vicious dogs etc.

Man nice, nice score. I could not envy you more.

Very nice. I am a huge Bmw fan and have been running their pedals for downhill mtb for four years now.

Thanks or the comments. And Danno, you cannot have my address, sorry. biggrin.gif I have my work cut out for me to finish this project. My "want" list is pretty long. The forks can actually be bought from Brooklyn. They are not exactly the same as the originals but pretty close. I'd love to find an original set but they are just as hard to find as the frames. I'll post with updates as I go along.

Any good powder coaters out there?

Mark,

I have a great powder coater here in Phoenix. The is shop Az powder coat and I have a buisiness acoount with them. They do all of the local bike companies stuff including Titus which is an extremely high end Mtb company. Another option would be find out who Bmw uses and have them do it if you want to go to those lengths.

I get to show this baby off again...

Brooklyn Cruiser (from jesboogie AGES ago... 2001?), 24" landing gears (old school ~1999?), Atomlab wheels, TNT cranks, Diety clamp and an Eastern post, Brooklyhn stem and S&M cruiser bars with a primo lever. I have a set of the primo magnesium pedals on it. I have grey oddessy A-brakes on it now. I have a set of red anodized brooklyn brakes that I would love to polish or trade for black...

I had this stripped and powdered (was orignally a beat-up tan). Powder was supposed to be some sort of ford blue (got a deal on it going into an existing batch), but some black mixed in and when you look real close you can see the tiny black specs (like a flat black glitter) - very unique and cool notwithstanding the massive screw-up by the coater.

Nice looking paint. I remember way back when Jesse had that rig, it was the first one I saw with the exception of the Brooklyn web site.

Nbl 49A, thanks for the tip on the powder coating. I am in the process of contacting Dupont to find out what the actual color is before sending the frame anywhere. Dupont bought Herberts-O'brien and they had the original blueberry syrup powder.

I haven't decided how to handle the decals. The originals are in good shape and they are non-existent at Brooklyn. I might heat them off and have them scanned.

I know the Brooklyn guys used to offer re-coating - you could probably score the original color from them.

I have one extra of the downtube sticker (has been folded though) - it is blue in color. I would gladly lend it out to you in exchange for a repop set. I think I also have an extra of the headtube sticker. I do not have any of the Chester Chizzel decals though.

What color are your snot rockets?

Awesome bike - it took me years to build mine - I wanted everything just right. The bluewalls and saddle were great finds. I sometimes wish the Atomlab hub was cassette though.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Brooklyn guys are cool and all, but my gut tells me it would be a few months before I ever laid eyes on my frame again. I may however contact the company in Brooklyn that does their powder. I am having a heck of time finding the color that BMW says that I have. It is called blueberry syrup made by a company called Herberts-O'Brien. Herberts was taken over by Dupont and they said they didn't change any of the names of the original Herberts powders.

Can you send me a picture of the downtube decals that you have? I'm sure we can work something out assuming I am able to extract the decals form the frame without killing them.

My snotrockets are black. I'd prefer silver but I can't complain can I?

Iv'e got a Spooky 24", I've been told they were made by BMW......true or false? 50 or supposedly made.
The frame is aluminum, probebly late 90's early 00's & almost taken to the ABA 04' national cruiser title in 31-35 cruiser. Super sweeeeeet.

I dont know who made Spooky, if it cant be figured out here email Dave Harrison at FBM. That is where he first started welding frames, he will know for sure.

Post a pic.
