I started another post with back in the day photos of racing in Nebraska and around the midwest. I have decided to gradually scan all of my old material and build slide shows online. I had written off these negatives from the first Jag Worlds as too underexposed, but I'm glad I held on to them! 30 years later they have revealed some classic shots of many of the greatest racers of all time. They also show the track in detail. Chris Heyden and I drove through one of the worst blizzards on record to get to Indy that year, and it got worse on the way home. There are a few things that stand out in my memory from that race including the first and last time I ever saw Dave Clinton on Team Redline. There are some great shots of Hill, Dain and Clinton. Also, If you don't like Queen (They are not my favorite) turn down the volume. But that is something else that reminds me of that weekend. They had "We are the Champions" And "Bicycle Race" blasting over the house sound system throughout the weekend. Here's what I wrote about these photos in the Nebraska thread:
Here are some historic shots from the 1978 NBA Jag World Championships. The quality of these images suffers from lack of light, graininess of 400 speed Tri-X film, and lack of photographic knowledge of the then 17 year old me! There are images here of many of the great ones. Team Redline, Clinton, Hill and Dain. Stu in SE gear on what appears to be an early GJS. Scott Clark, Robby and Eric Rupe. Then you have the Jag riders and several shots of Anthony Sewell, our first World Champion who passed away last month.
There are over 100 never before seen images here, including these of Anthony Sewell:
