with the staggered spoke holes. They were not down the centerline of the rim...there were 2 rows of spoke holes, fairly wide apart. I only remember seeing these in the mid 70's. Does anyone have any information/history or know where I might find 1 or better yet 2?

scratch_one-s_head.gif Nope good luck
The Red Baron
If Reilley sees this I'll bet he knows about them and probably has some on one of his builds.
Monster-Robot
Maybe Araya steel 2.125 rims?

Not exactly "widely spaced" but they are offset.

I know not common at all...but they did exist. TRB, I thought about Reilly...he probly forgot more about them than we'll ever know laugh.gif

M-R, that's not them although those do come to mind. The ones I remember have a wider spacing. I know I've seen one in one of my old books. I'll try to find it and scan it.

Reilley1 will know. I found a set of hoops like this a couple yeras back. Almost moped. Reilley1 has them now.
Reilley1
the rims Ben is talking about are Weinmann alloy 20-2.125s "Model 255"

Different from the ones than 76 is talking about I believe. Those were steel I believe and reaching into the memory banks were made by Sun for mopeds originally
The Red Baron
I told ya he would know. cool.gif

laugh.gif wouldn't you know it. Yes, Reilley1, it was a chrome steel rim with a box profile. This is a picture of one from page 36 of Scagnetti's 1976 book...this is the best scan I could get. I never made the moped connection but, I know several early wheels were sourced from the oil burners biggrin.gif . BTW, the bike this picture was taken from has a really wide mopedish rear 7b style rim so, there may be a connection.
