My father who thinks at 41 I am an overgrown kid and has for years with my bmx collecting habits. He has given me grief over the years about bikes in my garage to the point I can not park in there. Well imagine my suprise when I showed up the other day and in his garage is a 24" complete Team Murray with a 1984 Olympic Bicycle Sponsor sticker on it. Yeah I know it is a Team Murray but my father rescued it from the neighbor across the street who moved. Guy said it was his as a kid and he was junking it. My father who ridiculed me to no avail for 50+ bicycles (most completes) rescued a bike for me.

Will have to get pics but for all people to score...my father! Guess I know what my future project will be now.......Anyone have some cruddy parts to let go of???????

Yawn.

Just kidding! That's a pretty cool story. He thought there must be some value to it due to your bicycle OCD.

It's a good story, man! I was just kidding with the Yawn. I had to say that because it's a Murray!

I don't have anything bad enough hanging around to put on it. That was funny!

Pix. Ya gotsta post pix. Check the welds out. Are they nice beads or are they chromed over toothpaste? That'll determine which model you have.
Here are the beads on my X-20C

I can relate.

My father scored a GT Pro Performer for me at a g-sale for $20, several months before he passed away. Prior to that, he gave me the same hassle about my bikes in the garage, in the house, etc.

Team Murrays were definately worthy bikes. The other Murrays were good enuf starters for most Novices.
Man did Murray have a team and some of them rode Team Murray framesets.
Shows your dad must really love you, that alone is priceless.

Cool story, man.
Don't let the Murray tag stand in your way of doin' it up right.

If I ever get back to performing live music, I'm goin' out with a Wal-Mart or Target guitar just to flip the bird to all the brand-name snobs.

Charlie "Bird" Parker played some of his best music on what would be considered today as a junk, or toy, horn.

Back to BMX - I've personally had a lot of "hot name" products let me down.

GO FOR IT!

Cool story,

I have a similar. I joined VBMX roughly two yrs ago after a very long hiatus; still not in riding shape as I have not put that effort in yet, but I started out looking to build a bike I have had as a frame only for about 20 yrs. Never built it, but VBMX got me motivated. I have a gem and a very limited edition pre serial ride that I am proud of.

Imagine my surprise when my dad calls me up and tells me he scored the same ride!

We went to Rockford last year for our first time and were impressed with the show.

We will both be bringing a bike this year, the one I have had for 20 years and the one he recently saved from the scrap pile.

Maybe we will see this Team Murray as well?
