Does anyone know what year offset forks appeared on the BMX market? I raced motocross in the 70s-80s and remember when Yamaha and Suzuki ect went to offset forks. 75-76 they made the transition depending on the model issue time, half year and close outs. Any thoughts?

Early Redlines were late '74. I'm no expert but I don't know of any before that.

Check the interviews in the museum section. Some good stuff there.

Monster-Robot is correct as usual...

Linn Kastan is credited with inventing the first "off set" tubular BMX forks in '74.

They were known simply as "Chromoly" Redlines back when they first came out... Surely one of the sweetest BMX inventions of all time!

This is a must read for those interested in Linn Kastan and Redline: http://www.fiodan.com/vintage/kastan_interview.pdf

Just for fun, I'll drop some pics and hopefully others can post some early Redline forks as well. smile.gif
