I know the guy to right of me is Toby Henderson, then possibly Scott Clark? Not sure about the one on the right, maybee Mat Harris. Check the guys behind the gate. Harry Leary, Eddy King, Grg Hill, Tommy Brackens? (Powerlight). This was taken during practice.
Brian B
I think that might be Jeff Ruminer with the JT plate on the Murray.
Bird
Definitely Ruminer with the # 2 plate with teammate Scott Clark behind the gate with Brackens, Greg Hill, Harry and Eddy. Looks like Gregg Grubbs in the background too.
The Red Baron
I know those guys. smile.gif

That is impressive how many big names you can squeeze into one picture.

From left (half cut off) Ron House, 51 Greg Grubbs, 11 (unknown, though I am diggin the one-piece cranks), (way in the background) Rich Farside, 3 Eddy King, 7 Toby Henderson, Yellow helmet (not enough to ID), White Helmet Scott Clark, 5 Tommy Brackens, 25 harry Leary, 3 Greg Hill, Talking to Harry, Sandy Finkelman (RIP), 2 Not sure about Ruminer...could it be Bottema (look at the forks...plus, if it is from Detwieller, did Ruminer have a Nat 2 in NBL)?

#3 is Eddy King not Rich Farside. And yes Jeff Ruminer earned nat. #2 in AA pro in the NBL during the 82 season. This pic is a year later in 83 as he is running the ranking he earned in 82.

OK, I'll give you Ruminer, I suppose. Too tired to research it. Seem plausible enough, as I remember he was a fan of the massive stadium plate, as indicated by this shot...

But you did not read my post very thoroughly.

Look to the left of Eddy's number plate and you'll see Rich Farside ("way in the background," as it said)

The yellow helmet behind Scott Clark might be one of the Patterson brothers. Could #11 be Robby Rupe? A pure guess.

#11 is a Springfiled/Central, IL local. I just can't remember who. I remember the Playboy decal on the helmet. Where's Tapscott, Little Ade's Crew?

# 11 Troy Mitchell here. Lived in Pekin, raced with Arnett, Becker, etc. Rode for Peddlers Palace, Little Ades, and Russells.
Brian B
Based on the gate snap alone I'd say Ruminer owned that moto.

Oooop's.......sorry Mike your right. I didnt realize you i.d.ed Eddy King seperatly. That is indeed Rich Farside sitting on the hill. As far as Ruminer...Jeff was my teammate in 82 when we both rode for MCS. He went into the grands second in points in AA pro...Hill leading Stu in third. Hill failed to make it out of his semi(I beleive if he made the main he would have locked up the pro title that year.). So for the main it came down to Stu and Ruminer....who ever finished in front of the other would get the title. It was a close race with Stu finishing second in the main behind Bobby Woods and Ruminer finishing third to Stu after hitting the gate. So the final pro standings for 82 were- 1). Stu Thomsen 2). Jeff Ruminer 3). Greg Hill Feel free to research the facts but I'll eat my shorts if I'm wrong on that point. You can see the semi and main on the 82 grands dvd.

Loper with attitude. I love it. Feels like my Mark Franklin diatribe from a few months back.

I knew it was Ruminer... he was my teammate in 1985 and he was alot bigger than Bottema was.
Loper
No attitude here Brad......just know I'm right on this point. Another thing is Jeff Bottema had not raced a 20" bike since about 1980. This was 83 so Bottema was just about done racing, even cruisers by this time....even though he was still the team manager for Murray.
