Hope you guys like it. This was taken in Gonzales, La. in 1986.

When I showed up, it would ruin people's day. smile.gif

Pic is up. I'm not saying I was the fastest guy in the world, because I wasn't. One race against Matt Hayden essentially caused me to reconsider my future (his thighs were about as big as my torso), but I wasn't slow by a long shot.

When I decided to move my home track from Gretna, La. to Gonzales, no one had ever seen me before, but I already was state champ in my age group. I ruined quite a few weekends for some time to come. I only had one buddy and his name was Markus Braun. He is the only guy who had to race with me that would even talk to me.

They were pissed.

When I think back it's really pretty funny.

cool shot = which one are you?
The Red Baron
Is that you 'lookin all factory' in the Redline colors? If so, very cool.

If not, then you are cool in some other colors that I never wore. cool.gif

Great shot.
Kurt.
Looks like the Redline to me. Great pic Rick.

....by squatting on the berm? I can definitely see how that would be unnerving to the riders. laugh.gif

Lone looking like Mikey King pedaling out of that berm!,,,nice pic.........how old were you in '86?, I didnt make it to gonzales, but did hit a few of our other LA tracks. Did you ever race this chick in my photo? I'll be a man and admit, she smoked me in MS., at sugarmill, boy it was strange getting elbowed in the first turn by a chic,,,later became 2 time national #1 girl pro, Gabi Bayhi wink.gif,,,this pic is of her clearing 1st straight doubles at the Murray World Cup, '86?,,,

Wow beat by a girl. That can't go good either way. If she beats you. Well then you are scarred for life because you got beat by a girl. If you beat her then your freinds razz you anyway because you beat a girl.

I knew Gabby, at least that's how I spell it. She used to have "miscellaneous" on her butt because she always had to race guys. She was a few years older than I was and she was racing when I started. I have some pictures of her on a parade lap in Gretna.

I was 14 years old in the photo. This is when 14year olds were men and raced pro sized bikes. Notice how fully developed I look? LOL. I'm probably no older than the littler kids behind me. My front wheel was always coming up. That's just how I peadled. I pulled my wheel up about every 4th or 5th pedal stroke. Know who taught me that?

A girl named Cherri Elliot when she raced for Skyway. Chicks can throw it down.

Mike King had a tremendous influence on me. He was the "race style" king. For you to say that about the photo (that I resemble him racing) is about the nicest thing anyone could say.
I couldn't hold a candle to him.
