I'm sure this is going around like wildfire.

Anthony Sewell passed away in his sleep.

I Anthony was one my Hero's. When I met him for the first time at the OTC, it was hard to contain my excitement and he was quite surprised that I knew so much about him. Everytime I talked to him after that it was always felt that I was talking to somebody who wasn't just a hero but a friend. The world is a lot less cool now.

I bet a lot of these old school pros don't realize how much they affected some of our lives.

Anyone else have any personal stories?

Another BMX brother lost. R.I.P.

When we first started getting US BMX mags over here in the UK, Anthony was at the top of the game, so he was also a star on these shores too.

Very sad news. Too young to die.

Definitely sad news, and it really makes you think of your own mortality. Anthony could not have been that much older than most of us on this board.

I remember Anthony's riding style as well. He made a lot of mains and did his sponsors proud as far as I could tell. I never did get the chance to speak with him in person, I was a wide eyed fan when I was around those guys and scared to death to talk with them.

I guess Anthony has taken his last gate snap and crossed the finish line to the beyond.

Thanks for being one the pioneers of BMX, and for giving us 70's kids someone to look up to.

That's horrible. One of the all time greats. He couldn't have been very old. My thoughts and prayes to his family and friends.

I say in Anthonies'(?) memory........get as many people as possible to wear a Collared Golf shirt under their jersey.

Anthony, you will be dearly missed by your friends, your family and the sport of BMX.

What do you say when you lose a friend of 29 years.

God Bless you Anthony!! Rest in Peace

According to Wikipedia, Anthony was born in 1962.

Way too young to die and a message to all of us to make the most of what we have as you never know when the Grim Reaper is gonna call time's up.

This dude was cool.

Man, that really saddens me. I saw Anthony at the BMX reunion at the Winternationals in 2007 I will always remember him for the Team Murray ads. I loved reading about him when I was learning about BMX back in 1982 and 1983.

WOW, that hurts.

Just had a long conversation with Tommy Brackens about Anthony. I have very fond memories of him from back in 80 and 81.

I know Tommy and Anthony were close; I'm sure Tommy is pretty upset also about this.

Keep the positive memories alive here at VBMX.

There are few people I looked up to as a kid. Anthony was one of them. RIP BMX BROTHER.
