The infamous SE Quadangle, the bike that many of us dreamed of back in the day, but was out of reach for most. With it's wild and unique frame design, these bikes were sure to draw attention anywhere they went, whether it was at the track, the skatepark, or the 7-11 on the corner, anyone who knew BMX new you were rockin a Quadangle !
The original frames were designed for the "Legend" Stu Thomsen, and were produced under the STR1 model name, these are some of the most rare and sought after frames in vintage bmx. After Stu left SE, the frame was slightly redesigned, and re-named the Quadangle due to the frames design creating 4 triangles on the front triangle as opposed to most bike frames just having one. These original "looptail" frames were produced until 83-84 when the looptail design was dropped, and the Quadangle was re-designed again.
Fast forward to 2005...Kappa announces the STR2 project ! This project was well received in the community, as many saw this as a opportunity to own a new-skool version of the classic design that could actually be ridden hard, but this project never quite got off the ground, and Kappa eventually closed shop. It is believed that only 2 or 3 STR2s were produced by Kappa.
In 2006, SE Racing announces that they will be building a new "retro" version of the looptail Quadangle. This decision was made in no doubt due to the amount of interest that many in this community had in the "retro" Kappa projects, as well as it just being the "right time" for "retro"...This project was led by BMX great Todd Lyons, who's as hip to the old-skool as he is to the new stuff, and as SE's Brand Manager, we all knew good things would soon be coming our way via the SE bus.

So here's my Quadangle, it's taken a few years, but I finally have it the way I want it. I built this bike with riding in mind as I really wanted to have 1 bike that I could thrash around the hood with, but could also take it to the park or track without swapping out parts. A 1 bike does it all theme, like we built most of our bikes back in the day ! This was a fun project !!
