The last two years River Valley has been invited to participate in the Daffodil Parade. The Parade starts in Tacoma, then Puyallup, next Sumner and finally finishes in Orting. This is one of the largest parades in the Area and is televised locally.

2007 and 2008 was a complete blast, the kids where a big hit. Unfortunately this year the Parade will be on the same weekend as the Oregon National in Redmond and I will not be available to organize the riders and be the point of contact the day of the event. What I can do is file the necessary paper work, do a write-up on BMX and sanction the event with the ABA and agree to the hold harmless requirement

What we need is a point of contact person to coordinate meeting points staging areas and times. I would like invite all tracks and riders not participating at the Redmond event to attend, We are limited to about 40 rides. So we need to know a commitment ASAP assuming we get an event coordinator.

I thought it would be cool to have the ABA print flyers about our great sport and sharing each of the track's contact information on one flyer. Last year we distributed about 5,000 flyers through the parade, great P.R. for Washington BMX. I can coordinate printing with the ABA assuming there is enough participation.

We have a small window of opportunity to secure our spot. Please email me if you are interested in staging the event or just being apart of the Parade. It's a lot of fun and if it wasn't for the Redmond National we would not mess this event for the world.

Thanks,

Mark

Attached is the acceptance letter for this year's parade. This is a reminder that we need all application fees (10.00), Commercial entry fees, and Certificates of Insurance and Hold Harmless paperwork no later than March 23rd, 2009

Please read you instructions to see if all of these apply to you. If you filed your parade application on line, you have agreed to your hold harmless.

If you have any questions, call George Woodworth at 253-863-9524. All final paperwork will be mailed the week prior to the parade or you may receive it by email.

The Daffy-dill Parade was a big deal growing up. Back then, they didn't let hooligans on BMX bikes participate. I guess the bikes really had nothing to do with it.
