I like it very much. Would you explain some about it, for us? Pre war? Is this just a nick name or is it seriously that old? Is this a stupid question?

NICE!
What kind of tires are those?
I love 3 bars, I've been coveting Mikkopeters 3 bar since day 1!!

This was a project that I started because I love 26" BMX Cruisers and also love the early Klunkerz.
The frame is a late 1930s early 1940s Elgin brand frame that was probably sold through Sears.
I collected parts for a few months and finally built it all up.
- Pre War Elgin Frame
- Cheapo Pyramid Tubular Forks
- 1984 Mongoose ATB Pro Class Wheels with SR Hubs
- Kenda K80 Cruiser Red Wall Knobby Tires (26 x 2.125)
- 80s MX Seat
- AME Tri-Grips
- Skull Skates Cruiser Handlebars
- MX Knock Off Brakes
- 80s Pro Neck II Stem
- Tange BMX Headset
- 80s Sugino Road VX Cranks
- VP Bear Trap Pedals
It was a fun bike to build and it's a blast to ride.

A true Rat rod, Hot rod bike. Nice parts. Never seen anything like it. It's wonderful.
What a great Idea and effort, man. Awesome.

Thanks Lonewolf!
I will also say that the project stemmed from me never being able to afford a Cook Bros. or Bassett Racing frame.

An awesome bike, and very well done.
I used to dirt-jump an old Elgin when I was a kid. Finally tore the rear axle out of it. Good times.

That bike is Badd Azzz....very interesting build !
I think one of those big old weathered leather seats would look slick on that bike...I'm not really feeling the plastic seat !

I`m a sucker for an old bike, I`ve got a 12x16 yard barn full of old Schwinn`s, mostly middle weights. I don`t know what I`m going to do with them all, but most are rideable with a little coaxing.....air up the tires, throw a leg over and wonder who rode the same bike all those years ago. Man if those bikes could talk, what a story they would be. I bought a Dyno Roadster in `02, talk about a sled, that`s it. I also bought the last Schwinn my local dealer had in the box when Schwinn sold out around `02..... a Heavy Duti still in the box. Nothing like the old iron, they just ride soo relaxed... lay back and cruise.

Very cool bike. I'm really into the 80's freestyle bikes, but I've been thinking about building something up a little older! This is the first time I've checked out this section.

I don't think it's a dumb question. Questions are how we learn. I believe Pre War is supposed to be just that.

Great website man. Maybe I'll be a convert over there if I keep being ignored by all and crashing threads by simply posting on them.
Maybe I'll try to do a rat rod 20? HMMMM. The cassette drive in my head is now spinning.
You could do one, but it would have to be more rat than rod.
Nothing beats the inverted bars look of an old board track as a good starting point.
