Very cool Juan. I remember seeing boxes upon boxes of those pedals BITD at Hutch. Now I look at them quite differently-LOL. Looks like a lot of fun. Congrats, Woody.

I would say by the look of that carton, labelling and internal pedal boxes (I import for my business) they would be later tiawanese made (and I don't say that in negative way) Hutch Pedals...

My thoughts exactly which still is cool but it says R.O.C. and there is no hutch ink on any boxes but what the hey! tongue.gif

OK GUYS **** QUICK UPDATE **** AND IF YOU ALLOW ME AN EXTRA COMMENT...

20 Sets of Pedals were successfully released into the Vintage market (Sets # 49 to 29... I wanted to keep the 50th tongue.gif), out of respect for the buyers, all Names and pricing will remain confidential; at this time we are not looking to sell any additional sets, but I guess there is a possibility that some of these will pop out in different sites with resale purposes... I don't know!!!.

Once Again, thank you for all the kind comments.

********** ************** ************** ************ *************** ***************

On a separate note, Good sets of used Pro Pedals are clearing sites such as eBay for over $ 650.00 on a daily bases... The last NOS Set posted on auction went to a buyer in UK for $ 1097.50 plus ship (True blood collector value smile.gif )

Please do not bash John DeBruin, first off his pedals are not repops... SINCE HE OWNS THE BRAND ... These should be called Retro or Re Issue (Not sure lol)... I dont think they will have the same purpose of an OG set, nor the same end customer... in all honesty, I dont see how either one of these sets would affect market values against each other and I firmly believe we need the Retro pedals, mainly because not everyone can afford an OG set, and secondly because it would be the first big step on the re birth of the brand.

PERYYKRAMER
make them affordable the juan
youll still have 30 sets

if the 20 sets are taken, where did you advertise,or did they go to close friends??? i never saw on any of the sites an offering for these..just wondering..thanks juan

In automotive lingo the term used would be "Continuation".

-Same as before as if production had never ceased.

Just thought I'd throw that in there.

As well, I do not believe there is the same end customer. For instance, everyone will buy the "continuation". The OG purchasers will also be buying the continuation model- for use.

This is an all around great thing and I feel like there can only be mutual benefit from a staged release of the, now famous, "50OG" pedals.

Most of the sets were obtained via PM's, direct e mail and phone calls.

Well there ya go Peryy, there's your chance! Do you really want a set or are you just crying because you are bored?!

Just for the record Juan I meant no ill harm/feelings etc in my post. It was very exciting to watch. I strictly meant as a business move, in my opinion, it would make sense to "beat" the re issues out. Yes, there two different markets, but at the same time, a re issue could swing a "average" guy like me away.

As to the guy who said of a warehouse of other stuff, I agree. Both I and Agentheinz know of a nut job, total nut job, who has a small warehouse, so packed of crap, he dont even know whats there himself! His wife likes to sell, but he just hoards. Not due to value, but in the same way you see on tv with the 20 years of mail.

um - John's pedals are not 'continuation' - they are not exactly the same as the old ones - they are purposely different in small ways to make them distinguishable to the originals.

Perry, just a note - you can't just waltz in here and start going off at people who are respected members of the community.
Take it all in for a bit and then say something worthwhile once you have considered how to say it properly.

You got that wrong. It only died for the people that were collecting, hoping to make a profit later on with the bikes and parts. It is still alive and strong for the people that collect for the sheer enjoyment of the hobby, and to relive the old days of having bikes that we either had or wish we had!

The whining reminds me of when Darrell Young sold off his collection & a few peeps were pissed that they couldn't get a piece of the pie. Remember that old timers?

Great vid Juan, thanks for sharing.

Nice vid Juan - good to see stuff like this being documented and available for the vbmx world to see!

I get PERYY's point, but is really hard to try and be fair when there is such a big demand on items like these... I never expected to give 20 sets away that fast (And they are 5 more than what I originally wanted to share). If you or any one reading this post feels left out, please contact me.

REPOPS / RE ISSUES / RETROS are necessary to the sport... BECAUSE We keep building bikes and eventually all the stuff is (will be) gone... Decals are being accepted, Cranks and Wheels are being reproduced and is OK... I guess at some point we will all be very glad that some one stepped up to the plate to bring back some of this great stuff.

I don't take any offense with some of the commentaries on this thread, I can appreciate and respect everyone's opinions (Even If I don't agree or have personal remarks against me or my buddies)... But again, This topic was meant to document the Case, I think we accomplished that.

For all the guys that don't know me, My name is Juan, my e mail is juanrmattos@gmail.com and my cell phone number is 305 742 6460, If you need something in the future and I can be of help "I WOULD"!!!

Juan I think the whole things pretty cool - great vid !

Personally I'm looking forward to the retro/rereleased pedals, I like to ride my bikes (and I like them to look shiny new)

How would you all react if I took a nos set out of the box, stuck them on my bike, then lay it on its side and scuffed/dented them up, I'd be gutted and I'm sure you guys wouldn't be to happy either.

Perry, you're just a sour-grapes crybaby. Juan has contributed tremendously to this hobby in so many ways. Serious collectors like him (and myself) are the reason vintage BMX will remain alive. We need to thank him, not complain. Lighten up.

Juan, the video was awesome. smile.gif

Peryy sounds just like 1984Hutchproracer......bmxlegend... Just a new name.

Same old sour grapes. Repops suck..... waaa waaa waaa... I can't spend 510.00 on a newly welded TA.... waa waa waaa.... I wasn't told about the pedals so I didn't have a chance...

He just can't stay away.

That pretty much sums it up. Some people take this way too seriously. Yeah, collecting is serious to some of us, but BMX is supposed to be fun. like Juan says, the original items and the new items are for two different markets. Myself, I enjoy collecting the original items, but as someone that rides too, I'll be purchasing John's new Hutch products as well. I don't care about the actual monetary value of my vintage and current BMX parts and bikes - what I care about is that it makes me happy - either by looking at the stuff or using it. Life is short.

I have heard nothing but good things about Juan. And if it wasn't for the Lambokid these might have been thrown in a dumpster years ago!Props to you and all you do Juan! and Greg I know you grabbed a couple of sets eventhough they are not a Haro item,so hook me up on a decent used set,Bro style!

Juan..............

I hope youre not at all concerned about this guy or are even trying to accomodate him.

I dont understand why he feels you are obligated to sell at his demands. These are your pedals, you can sell to whomever you choose, and as many as you choose.

Why he feels you had to give everyone a chance is beyond me. And if he wasnt smart enough to pm you after seeing the video he has no idea about how the world works. Especially the collecting world.

Hes acting like youre walmart and hes standing in the checkout lane and youre telling him to put the stuff back on the shelf.

On another note this is probably one of the coolest videos Ive seen on this site.

As for the previous Bango comment...........well thats crazy talk.

Nothing, I mean nothing is more relevant and important than a true, vintage bango

Hey Juan,
i have zero interest in Hutch, wouldn't even desire to pick one up if it was for sale at the local Goodwill, BUT the vintage stuff you get into is enjoyable to see. thanks for sharing.

It was interesting to see the reaction at OS, I thought you'd get stomped in the ground for desecrating (sp?) a box of hutch pedals, but everyone was pretty cool about it. To me that indicates you are fully established as the premier collector of BMX.

Now let's see the rest of your museum, please. smile.gif

Juan is a good guy. If you suddenly flood the market with diamonds, everyone has one. De beer's has more diamonds than you might imagine. Diamonds are worth nothing. You just think they are based on limited release.

Hutch pedals actually ARE worth something, and this crazy dude, Juan, is willing to share them!
We spoke yesterday and he returned every email I sent. He IS accommodating and he IS a nice guy. He even talked about my car with me.

If you want a set, just email him and maybe he will put you on a secondary list. There is bound to be someone who backs out.

Juan that was all too cool, I would've made a big mess in my pants while opening that box, on another note, how about taking requests on what you will be bringing to Rockford from your collection? I know there is a particular piece in there I would die to see. And Mikko is right Juan is one of the good guys.

Thanks Juan

Juan is a really nice and great guy. I just spoke with him on the phone about the pedals (grabbin a set). Talked briefly about his collection. I am flying down to Miami next week and I am meeting up with him to check out his entire collection and pick up my pedals.
