That's cool. 2003? I wonder, was that before Brian broke his neck?
As a side-note: The guy that owns/operates that site, Jared Souney, is my little cousin. He got me into flatland waaay back when. Great guy.

Would it be? He didn't get hired by the police department until after recovery. That was part of the hang-up as I recall him telling me. And with the pics of the patrol car in the driveway, I would assume those were taken after he was hired on.

This is in the story in between the pictures:
"Brian had just built a vert ramp in the backyard of his friend, who was a K9 Officer somewhere in the Ontario, CA area. The fenced in ramps housed three very angry German Shepherds, which had to be caged before we could go back there (I’d hate to be the kid trying to jump that fence to poach a run on that ramp). A few years later Brian became a police officer himself, and can still ride a vert ramp with the best of them."

I met Brian in 1985. My brother was in to freestyle and we went to a Haro show (near New Orleans). It rained so they had to do the show inside at a high school. Even though they didn't have the benefit of the ramps, we had never seen anything like it.
Brian was a cool, respectful, down to Earth, superhero. He was kidding with the parents and listening to the kids- Just a wonderful guy.
Just the kind of guy you want to be a cop. I'm sure he is an asset to his department.
His skills were amazing on flatland, just as they were in the air!
I hadn't heard about his neck injury. I hope he's okay.

Jared's a cool guy. I use to ride with him once in a while in New England. I looked him up when I moved out to Huntington Beach in 2000 and he invited me to a Ride Bmx video premeire. I met Greg Walsh and Robbie Morales that night as well as a bunch of other people that I had only read about in magazines. I ended up working at 411VM and put together a short lived BMX video magazine for them as well as the first 2 Fit Bike Co. videos. I use to see Blyther riding at the Vans park in Orange, CA once and a while and the guy could still rip. Anyways, I guess it's really a small world.

Incredible!!!!!!!!
I wish I knew what it felt like to Fly like Blyther....
He has the most relaxed - weightless demeanor in the air.
I always loved it.
To me.. He really is the king of vert.... like those old "Soul Surfers"....
Not rippin' up the waves... just truly feeling them.

Incredible photos too.
I love the one with the glory shot of the house and cop car...
and subtle background of him flying out about 8 feet with a giant 1-footer.
You don't see that kind of fore-thought very often.
