If you are just starting out buy whatever bike you will enjoy riding(so you will ride more). If you plan on serious racing go with a race bike for weight and race geometry........Allen Godfrey

I just returned to the race scene (after 20 years!) on a freestyle/trails 24... the WTP Unified 24 and had no probs...The CR24 is a nice looking bike and will probably hold up to any abuse you can throw at it....I say go for it. You can always switch out some parts later on to lighten it up as you get more serious about racing.

It is too bad the Fit website doesnt show the head angle or bb height specs. The top tube and chain stay measurements (that ARE listed) are fine. Looking at the pic, the bb height is about typical since the chain stays are parallel to the ground, like most race cruisers. The head angle doesnt look radical either.
Go for it. Just the look of the chrome makes it a worthy purchase. All I see is that it is a little heavy compared to most race cruisers, but if you like the way it rides, you can change some parts on it later for weight savings.

I wonder how far off the CR24 is from the S&M 38 special 24 geometry-wise? If it's relatively close...that would be another point in its favour...given the popularity of the 38 special.
