Hi guys, just joined up on here but have been lurking for quite a while.

I'm based over in the UK and really like the attitude you guys have over on this board.
So cool to see people like Woody posting. Always admired you as a rider. Pure class.

Noticed Maurice Meyer posted on here also, saw you when you rode at Rad City on the Skyway Eurotour with Vander. Superb group of guys. Was gutted when I heard what happened to Dave. He was such a nice person when I met him. A real talent.

Been building OS and retros for a while now and have just finished off my latest project.

It's an '85 Streetbeat with a few Nu school touches...

Here's a parts breakdown...

1985 Skyway Streetbeat frame
Odyssey Pro Flatland thermal 41 Forks
S&M Redneck Stem
Snafu Mobeus Gyro
'87 GT World Tour Performer bars
Odyssey Monolever brake levers
ODI Longneck Grips
Haro Fusion seatpost
KHE Watanabe Seat
Suntour seatpost clamp
Diacompe Hombre Brakes
Odyssey London Mod
Snafu Flatland pegs
Sun Blackbox rim laced to Odyssey hub on front
Alex Supra G rim on back laced to Eastern cassette hub
Generix cranks
Federal sprocket
KHE Stimulator pedals
Odyssey Slim By Four brake pads
KHE Lamello tyres

Hope you all like it!

Really nice bike.
I love the updated to parts to make it ride better.

How did you get the 1 1/8" forks to work on that 1" headtube?
I really want some of those same forks to run on an '88 Master.

Welcome aboard and NICE build!

Looks good, and rideable. Cool, and welcome to the fold!

Welcome, welcome Bootsy! I gotta say that is one killer ride you built there! That thing says "Ride me"!

Love that bike. Everything about it is sweet. Love the GT bars and the T/A stickers. Thought about doing one myself like that. Oh yeah....welcome to the site. good3.gif

Hey, welcome, dude. Sweet ride. Reminiscent of Guav's incredible custom neon yellow 'Beat he did up a year or two ago. I personally like the blend of old and new. Yes, please divulge what headset arrangement you used to get the frame and fork to jive together.

So, you are going to ride it, yeah?

Oh....by the way....do I detect a plastic seat?
84Master
Frickin' love your bike man

Thanks for the welcome guys!

The forks were fitted to the frame by using the cups from a Tioga Beartrap 2 headset (the onlly ones I could find that would allow the forks to pass through) and the rest of a 1 1/8th A headset.

I filled the cups with grease and then put the bearings loose into the grease then passed the forks through the frame.

It really works well.

The seat is a plastic KHE Watanabe. Reminds me of a Skyway Hotseat that I used to run back in the day on my Craig Campbell Prolite.

And yes, I'm gonna ride this baby! Shame it's snowed the day after I finished it!

Awesome build. That's what I like best about this place. All the cool bikes people build and ride. I have a similar project under way and after seeing that, I can't wait to get mine done. That's also really cool info about the fork/headset set up.

So it's basically just a loose-ball setup that mixes 1-1/8" bearings into the 1" cups with the regular 1-1/8" race on the forks?
Seems like the bearings would have to be of the small variety to fit?
I'll have to try that.

Thanks for the info and welcome aboard!

Rad bike dude and welcome aboard!!!!

That's exactly whats going on. The 1-1/8th bearings are small enough to let the forks run smoothly.

Trust me, this works fine.

I think Guav did something similiar on his setup, but I could never track down the link to the thread in which he broke it down for us. This gives me a ton of new ideas for winter projects now

Again, welcome, and be sure to get us pics when the snow dries up and you break that puppy in.

If you use the Tioga Bear Trap bearings and cups it works just fine - you can leave the bearings in the cages, it really depends on the race that you have on the fork. I used the 1" Tioga Bear Trap 2 and an 1 1/8" Aheadset on my Elf Pro XL along with Eastern Nitrous forks and had no problems.

Almost forgot, Welcome! That's beautiful ride you got there!
