I got a good deal on an '86 PK Ripper frame/fork a couple months ago. Since it isn't a looptail, I didn't want to put alot of money into it. Just wanted a nice looking rider. I had tons of parts old take-off parts from previous builds lying around, so I decided to use them for the Ripper. Took the fork, a mismatched set of blue ano Ukai rims, Tuffneck sprocket, and faded red ano Race Inc bars to the powdercoater. Had everything powdercoated in gloss black. Used some black Rit dye to recolor an old yellow seat. Built the wheels with a set of black chrome Pro Class hubs I had from a previous Mongoose acquisition. Also used the black Pro Class spider. I have no idea what the cranks are from. They're a single pinch chrome Mongoose crank with a little Mongoose image. I paid $19 for them, still in the plastic bag. Possibly from the 90's. Pedals are polished Diamondbacks that didn't fit my son's '83 DB. Stem is a DK with nice chrome that I had lying around. I had a set of chrome repro Ukai decals and a repro Race Inc decal so I threw them on. I'm happy with the way it turned out. I've always been a fan of the ball burnished, black, and powder blue combo for PKs. I just need a black rear brake lever. Put a front lever on temporarily.

It looks great man. Nice to be a guy who has those kind of spare parts hanging around. The Chicago on the bars makes that geometry look old school. I loved that frame when it came out, was the geometry really that relaxed or is it the angle of the picture?
