osrlracer... Umm... One word... SICK!!! You always freak me out with your stuff! Killer all the way. Now I'm afraid to post my one and only Redline (which you've seen before).

Oh well, here goes nothing! Ha!

First official BMX publication which shows Redline forks. The forks that changed bicycles forever... Thank you Linn! good2.gif

The killer stem... Another iconic change for BMX. I have one coming in soon from (of all places) OKC!!! Ha!

My own rider... The "Randy Lewis Special":

COASTY
Oh those Redlines are sweet OSrlracer. I have to have a Proline one day.
This is an ad I hadn't seen before until just recently.

Osrlracer, The significance of this post cannot be understated. You have a fabulous collection, my man.
Monster-Robot
Dang Tommy! That's a great collection. Plus all of your other bikes are so cool as well...! Impressive!
KenC
These are some great bikes; it makes my 5 Red-Lines seem insignificant.

I was trying to post photos of mine but I am a computer idiot and can’t seem to figure out how to resize them. I can’t upload them the way they are.

I have a
74 Squareback, serial number 235
76 Squareback, serial number 49xx
77 MX II, serial number 59xx
77? Pro-Line, serial number 84xx
Late 79 MX II, serial number 343xxx

Does anyone have any literature on the 74-75 Red-Lines?
KenC
Here is my 77 MX II (original nickel)

It was like hitting a wall. ohmy.gif

And if you thought that was bad, you should have felt what it was like to hit the one just out of frame here. The first one was probably 2 feet high, this one is about 4 feet. At least we landed on grass. laugh.gif Check out Brian in the Mongoose gear getting out of shape. A split second after this shot he drilled me into the fence. Good thing we were friends.

I wonder if Harry's Profab forks survived that landing?

Who's on the Mongoose looking like they are about to eat it? TURN LEFT, TURN LEFT!
msalyers
thanks red, i guess it was a good time to have redline forks. how did you fare in that race or was that the main?

I have the f&f all cleaned up, I need Northridge decals for it though. Does anyone have any for sale???

I have to think about what wheels I’m using now; someone stole my idea and used Webcos on theirs. laugh.gif

The Mongoose rider was Brian Curnell. Since he embarrassed me then, I will return the favor now.

We both launched off that jump, he landed out of shape (heading my way) and his only method of correction was to bounce off me. laugh.gif The impact pushed me into the fence and did manage to straighten him up. Turnell Henry (Jag) went inside both of us and won.

This event was an exhibition race before a Rams/Dallas playoff game. Only 70.000 people in the stands. ohmy.gif
Here is a picture (practice) of the jump in the last straight. After I crashed in the race I hit this jump and did something like this. I did get a rise out of the crowd with it. cool.gif

How cool is this thread getting? popcorm1.gif

Dennis, great stuff! More please! drinks.gif
Lonewolf
It's getting really cool. -That's how.

You can see more Redline stuff at my site http://redlinebmx.wordpress.com
Sometimes you will have to clik on headlines to see the whole story or click on pictures to see them larger.
I have other links to my other fan sites and sites like Vintage on all my sites.
Long live Linn Kastan.
The Red Baron
"Don't encourage him..." laugh.gif

I love it when I get a second angle on a picture I already have. This next picture came out of a box of pictures Scott Briethaupt gave to a friend.

And then, of course there is the Redline frieght train. My caption for this is, "If you are not the lead dog, the view is always the same."

msalyers
red, david clinton's in front, you in the back, who's in between the two of you?
mike
The Red Baron
Greg Hill and Jeff Ruminer.

Lonewolf
Dennis, I am not blowing smoke. You guys are a treasure to us, as is this website. There are lots of cool things to see on this site, but occasionally a thread comes along that embodies the true meaning of "Vintage". You are not forgotten and thank you for sharing your pictures with us.
The Red Baron
Thanks. I appreciate that. smile.gif
mongoosedrummer
Bump... More please! cool.gif
The Red Baron
You guys are picture whores. laugh.gif

This was one of those 'made for race day' tracks in a rodeo arena in Central California, Visiala. Needless to say it was less than fun to race on. Now that I think about it, we raced on some pretty shabby, make shift tracks back then.

Now you guys go easy on these... wink.gif
Lonewolf
Great stuff! Dennis, we want to see them ALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol.

We really do. - Did you just call me a whore? I resemble that remark.
mongoosedrummer
Dennis, did you have the longest hair in BMX BITD ? smile.gif When and why did you cut it off? Sort of reminds me of Troy Polamalu but red! Any stories?
The Red Baron
I started to answer your last questions, but then I thought differently. This is a Redline thread, not the Red Baron thread. wink.gif

Some other time, perhaps...

Wow, one of the few pictures in existence of Frank on Patterson. On a Pamongoose, or is it a Torkerson.. That track looks vaguely familiar, can't quite place it.

Never heard of it. Must be a ghetto, I don't even see any stores or Starbucks. Nutn but trees and old mattresses.
The Red Baron
Randy, I don't think my wife would appreciate that comment. ohmy.gif

That was the third day of the Centurion (I mean, Redline) Grand Prix. We all must have been really tired the way we were sprinting for that mattress in the first turn. laugh.gif

ABA Hall of Fame Award winner Marvin Church Jr. recently sent me some great pictures of a '76 Squareback Frameset he has. I thought some people here would like to see it.

I really love seeing the OG decals on these old frames. Marvin sure has some pretty incredible stuff not to mention great stories about the early days of BMX. He also has a 1st run Squareback frameset given to him directly from Linn Kastan. Ken, I thought you would like to know that it has no serial number whatsoever. cool.gif

Among some of the other incredible things Marvin has kept, is arguably the very first straight tube BMX frames ever made which were constructed by his father, Marvin Church Sr. For those who may not know, Marvin's Dad was also one of the first people to create long cranks that could be run for BMX racing BITD. Obviously, a true innovator and iconic BMX pioneer, Marvin's father was quite the guy. It's always a blast to hear all the cool stories from Marvin. One of the nicest guy's ever. wink.gif

One of Marvin's OG '76 Squareback with OG decals:

Bonus pic... "Mirror mirror on the wall, which Squareback has the most reflective sprocket of them all..." laugh.gif

Sorry to "double post" here (it's one of my skills! laugh.gif ) but Ken, if you haven't read this interview yet, you should. That goes for everyone who loves Redline stuff and wants to learn more from the master himself... smile.gif

I have read it, I actually printed it out. There is some great info in there but he contradicts himself in a few answers he gave, I have done quite a bit of research on Linn and Red-line, and I have found other info on him that has quotes from other interviews that he has done where he gives different answers to the same questions. I figure allot of the questions that he has been asked to answer is from 30+ years ago and he is human and is answering them from memory so I look at all the info I have before I come to any conclusions on accuracy.

One of the biggest misunderstood pieces of info I see is when the Pro-Line came out and what the rough welded head tube means.
