I don't think any of the '84 Mongoose models came with 3-piece cranks, at least according to the '84 catalog at vintagemongoose.com.

THATS why I couldnt figure it out. Basically I was looking to replace the BB bearings/hardware, and all the ones I saw had a spline count, but my cranks dont have splines. Thanks for straightening me out and please forgive my ignorance.

You should be able to use just about any one-piece (24tpi) bottom bracket on your Mongoose.

agreed. i think by 1984 they were using all 24tpi (earlier Mongoose 1-pc cranks were 28tpi).

So, you guys are pretty sure '84 had the 24 tpi? I am gonna order this one if so, unless someone has a better suggestion.
Not sure if I understand your situation. If you have the one-piece cranks, measure how many threads per inch. Or you can measure 1/2" and multiply by two. That will tell you if you need 24 or 28 TPI.
For axample, if you measure 12 threads in 1/2", then you need a 24 TPI BB.
Hope this makes sense.

Yeah, I would have, but I dont have the cranks with me at this time, and was kinda on a roll with ordering new parts. You know how it is when you get excited and start spending money I guess I could wait 'til I pick them up. Thanks guys
