So I'm walking through the Service Department at the shop, and I spy this out of the corner of my eye. Dude had pulled it out of his parents' shed yesterday and blew the dust off with the garden hose. Thought he'd get some inner tubes installed since these didn't hold air.

Dude told me he remembered riding it for a whole summer the year he got it, '83 or '84, and then putting it in the shed when he got his driving permit. It looks like the rear axle hasn't moved since the day it was first tightened.

I gave it a good once over, snapped these pics, and told him to take it home at once and not accept the first offer some guy will no doubt be yelling to him while he's sitting at a traffic light with this in the roof rack. I love a survivor:

SE Gurus: Were Landing Gear Lites really a legit SE product offering?

Nice to see that they're still out there! I snapped a pic of a Redline MX II survivor last summer while I was on vacation. I will post the pic here later tonight and a little about the details.

Anyone else?

Beautiful, truly. I am by no means an SE expert, but they were legit. I don't know when they started making them though. I'd guess 1983.

I have seen a few lights down here too. All the same.
Thats an awsome survivor. Beautiful bike.

I found an MXII survivor complete with padset in perfect cond. It was being ridden by a 12 year old kid to school.

Nice find.

Cool story and also very cool that you didn't try to shaft the owner with a low-ball offer.

Turns out is was an MX III. Here are a couple of bad pics. The bike was actually in pretty good condition. I spotted this while on vacation in Myrtle Beach (Ocean Lakes; for those that know the area). The Wife and kids and I were cruising in the golf cart and I spotted this little kid about 8 ridding a bike with gold anno V Bars! Jutst caught a quick glimpse but thought it might be something worth checking into. Wife thinks I'm crazy. The next night we are doing the "golf cart cruise" or whatever its called; literally 100's of golf carts just tooling around single file give each other high fives an yelling and carrying on. The Wife & Kids love this... me not so much until I see the bike again. Aaargh... no way to turn around with all the cart traffic angry.gif Again the Wife thinks I'm crazy! The last day at the beach I walked up to the snack shack and happened to see a large group of pikes sitting outside the little skate park area they have and bingo! I was checking it out and one of the kids friends must have told him that some old guy was checking out his bike because he came flying out and caught me tongue.gif. I resisted the urge to offer him 50 bucks for it.

Race Inc dude
wow

That quad is sick...those 4130 Chromoloy quads don't come up that often. Most are Reynolds.

I'm half tempted to say that the dude doesn't deserve that bike if he couldn't install some tubes himself. But I won't.
