Hey guys,
I bought a Tioga BB-22E NOS loose ball bottom bracket bearing set for my Trickstar build. According to the seller these are supposed to be correct for Redline Flight 401 cranks. My cranks are early 80's Flights with the dimpled spindle. The right side(sprocket side) bearing race is marked "28" and threads onto the spindle easily but the left side race and lock nut won't thread onto the spindle at all.The threads on the spindle itself appear to be in perfect shape and are perfectly clean. Is this bottom bracket correct for these cranks? Do I have a mismatched set? Am I missing something? I worked in a bike shop as a teenager and used to be an expert on these kind of questions but after a 22 year absence,I can't remember much.
Thanks for your advice,
Tom

did you try reversing it (the threads are reverse i do believe ?)
mr coasterbrake
could be mix-matched.

also, there was a batch or 2 of Tange BBs from the factory that had incorrect threads. i dunno what the actual problem was (wrong count, wrong pitch, not cut deep enough???), but they didn't fit anything. these were late '90s era, but were still turning up until not too long ago in shop inventory.

try your pieces that don't fit with a 24tpi 1-pc crank to see if they fit that.

Those are both very wise, and sound pieces of advice. If neither of them work, take a pipe wrench and hammer and make it fit, dammit. huh.gif
