It just makes me mad that Cheeta, Powerlite, Robinson, Auburn, and GT's distributing company were all bought by the same guy just to never reach production. All those frames that are being sold on Ebay are the prototypes that never made it to production.
We should all log onto ebay and ask this guy what is being done. Are they ever going to introduce a product line and bring those great names back into business?

I asked, I got an answer.
For those interested in the future of Powerlite, Robinson, Auburn, Cheeta, and Riteway Distributing.
Here is my question to the Ebay seller,
"What ever happened with Cheeta, Powerlite, Auburn, Robinson, and GT's
distributing company? Werent they all bought by the same guy? I have seen
prototype frames like the ones you are selling many times over the years. What
is ever going to be done to bring these great names back to production? Any
plans that you know of? Thanks."
Here is the reply I received,
"You are correct just not in that order...Powerlite Was pursued first and Riteway
Gt's Distributing Company was part of the arrangement which included Robinson,
Auburn and some other lesser known parts brands. The problem with buying
Powerlite was trying to figure out the best way to build them. Originally Gt
made powerlites in tubed versions as they were easier to build than the
hydroformed Coqpit versions that were developed by them in the later part of the
90's. The Coqpits were difficult to make and were outsourced to have the forms
shaped for them. Gt only had one size form made and therefore
had to use the rear part of the bike to lengthen it for bigger people. Our
dilema was how to take the idea of the form and develope it into true sizing
that replicated tubed versions and also to develope the coqpit into a version
that could be utilized by smaller people also...
In order to do that we purchased Cheeta Cycles the brand and with it Cheeta's
Manufacturing capabilities and tooling and then revamped and upgraded their ability
to not only build great tubed bikes, but also hydroformed frames with added structure,
but similar weights to our tubed frames... we have done a great deal of
developing thus far, but still have more developement to do, in terms of the jr
sizes for both Auburn and Robinson Hydroformed frames which are being developed
now. Powerlite is completely developed with the exception of a Pro Cruiser Frame
in a hydroformed shape. When you have 14 sizes in each brand it is a fairly
daunting task with a trying learning curve... that is probably why you have seen
some of our stuff from time to time as we have been testing this stuff along the way.
I hope this kind of answers your question and we appreciate the interest.

Whoa! That's too cool and
"Gt only had one size form made and therefore
had to use the rear part of the bike to lengthen it for bigger people." explains why my Coqpit XXL has a pro-sized TT and really long chainstay!!! Funny.

Lee The Flea Lewis had one of these when he rode for Hurricane/Powerlite. The bike rode well but broke midway through the season. Hurricane/Powerlite's Paul Caldwell also rode one with the same result. There are several of these things at bike shops around the country. They are very futuristic looking and are really fantastic when they are powdercoated. Dwayne Ivey and California Jay had a whole display of them at the Grands 3 years ago. People have been waiting for the rollout on theses bikes for years. No luck so far!
