About 4 years ago at the x-mas classic I found a guy that was selling a powerlite 3 bar. I about crapped my pants when I saw it chained to his trailer. Of coarse he was nowhere to be found.Everytime i went back someone else was looking at my find. Go figure. Anyway I finally found him at his trailer and the score made my weekend. Anway, 4 years later I decided to start building it. I bought the most killer set of 26" araya 7x w/red / chrome Bullseyes. BLING to the DING. I went to mock up my build and realized that The wheels wouldn't fit. What? All this time I thought I scored a 26" POWERLITE 3-bar and it was a 24" 3-bar.Funny. My question is were there more 24" or 26" 3 bars made? How desirable is this particular year and size? perfect dropouts and brake bridge. Thanks, MoToDoG

I'm guessing the fork was the thing that hung it up. I SWORE I took a thrashed set of 26" rims off mine when I bought it as a basket case. So I bought a new set of 26 alloys and some NOS Comp III yellow labels in red, and...no dice. Now, the back wheel would fit...and would even better with a narrower tire...but because of the slotted brake hole, it could work but it was close. The front wheel didn't fit at all. I think the frame was designed for both, and the fork is what differed. So I sold the 26" stuff in favor of 24", and here she is:

The 24" and 26" Powerlites were nearly identical in terms of toptube and downtube length. I could see how you thought it was a 26"...build it as a 24" you will not be disappointed. They ride just like 26"s.
