Haven't added any BMX to my garage in a while (been playing with mountain bikes), but this one dropped in my lap this morning and I had to bring it home.
Not sure on the year (86/87ish?), and it's not all stock...forklifter bars, GT stem, Peregrine levers, etc.
Wheels seem to be older than bike (high flange Shimanos laced to Arayas).
Also not sure about the fork (no diamond cut out on the drop out?).
Any Diamondback experts up tonight?
I'll post some pics soon.
Thanks,
Steve

It looks like an '87 model. Forks are '88 Redline.
It was also available in blue.

Cool. One thing just worth mentioning, regarding variations of that frame. Of course the original '86 didn't have toptube cableguides, and did have welded on chaingaurd tabs of all things. A variation I've noticed also, and seems limited to the '87; The cablestop for the rear brake, located on the arch between the seatstays. You can see that Raul's stop is located beneath the arch, whereas Steve's is located on TOP of it. from what I've seen, the latter is more rare. I don't know what that means about anything, just thought I'd mention it.

Raul and Axlepeg,
Thanks for the great info...'87 it is. (with Redline fork)
Not sure what the future holds for this old survivor (lots of projects in line ahead of it at the moment, so it may be a while before I post the "after" shots).
Jes and Joe, now that Axle mentioned it, I'm curious...where are the rear cable stops on your frames?
Thanks,
Steve

Hey.....are those the VP-868 pedals that came on the 88 RL-20II?

Either that or they are shimano deore pedals. Basically the vp's were copies of those. The deore pedals seem to be the next version of the old DX pedals.

The VP's have two addition studs in the center of the pedal. That is all I see that is not the same. It appears that Steve's is without the studs, making them the Shimano? Hummm?

Stephen,
Got a chance to take a better look at the pedals...bummer, they're Wellgos (looks like they're stamped LU8VA?)...either way, not VP or Shimano.

Sweet! I love the diamond backs with the "ransome" lettering. Very 80's.
