yes i will post pics tonight as soon as i can dig the thing out of the garage, i thought it may be a mongoose but was not entirely sure. It has a diamondback decal on the front but none of the other markings, design, shape seem to add up to it being a diamondback. not one that i am/was familiar with anyway. i am looking to acquire either an old DB super streak (the bike i used to have) or an old DB formula 1 (the bike i always wanted) if anyone knows of any leads they would be much appreciated. .

Most likely a 87 Diamond Back Viper I'm guessing from the chaingaurd tabs.
go to the Os-bmx site that is all DB, all the time, to be certain.

looks sort of like a diamond back, the bars may be elf zip bars

But, when i searched the DB serial number threads, none of them referred to a single digit start to a serial number other than an "F". the single "M" digit has thrown me for a loop.

I think it's a taiwan made akizu, but the possible elf bars and the spider -look cool
see if the forks say "akizu" on the fork stem

It is a late 1980s DB. I have had a couple like that. Should be a small diamond on the rear dropouts and a small one on the front fork dropouts. Chainguard tabs denote low end model (probably mild steel).
The M8 denotes 1988 for many of the offshore models from several brands.

did not see anything that read "akizu". Low end DB sounds right, ken, according to your description. seems kind of heavy also. whats a good price for a DB F1? in decent shape.

last one i seen went for $1800 for a nice frame and fork.
you should put it on ebay.
