Hi All,

In the early 80's my parents surprized me w/ a new BMX. Had a frame I couldn't ID w/ diamond back stickers on it. Well I was pist, begged them for a GT. So I put all the parts like Araya rims, Kashimax seat, Shimano 170's, etc on one of my other popular frames.
Then, as an idiot - I tossed the frame, pinched forks and red V bars. Well, this week I found out that it was an early 80's Scwhinn Predator, does anyone rebuild those? I know it was not a Quad or Hutch, etc. but I thought it was like a cheap open Road or Huffy.
Anyway, lesson learned, now I'm becoming a hoarder!

Peace Out,

Traveller

I'm guessing everyone on this board has a similar story of the ones we should have kept.

I had a Silver Streak and a KZ-1 at one point that I would love to have back and an original complete Hutch Pro Racer that I traded when I was about 14 for a set of Kerma Ski Poles. Oops.

i used old frame decal sets as tape for my posters in my room

I never had the opportunity to toss the parts I was going to replace on my DG before it was stolen, but I always wanted to replace my redline double clamp stem with a pro neck or a tuff neck. I noticed a redline stem sold on ebay recently for about $200! Zoinks!

when i moved out of my dad's house to go to college, he called to tell me how he gave all my bike stuff away. dg frame and fork, 80 jmc frame and fork, square back frame and fork, and the list goes on. definitely priceless these days.

dad bought me a brand new webco(red, red mags)from the raleigh dealer to race on
went in to get some candy at local pharmacy(dummy, stupid)

glj sidehack, that sucks. i was alright with the jmc when i saw the little girl across the street was racing it. found out later her dad had gotten most of the parts and was selling em at the local track(orion park). a friend that still raced called and told me about it.

I through out my whole BMX career for a 12 pack of beer and loose teenage girls. It seemed like a good idea at 15 years old.

Yes,
Getting ripped off is a unique, shocking, pist feeling. No bmx frames stolen but I had a super lite Gary Fisher mtn bike w/ all Kore parts tricked out, worth more than the car I was driving @ the time, -Lock hammered and gone (in 10 minutes).

And get this. I was buying a friend who was sick a gift inside a Religous store, not that I'm an angel- But I'll let Karma take care of it !

I never caught the fever on mtn bikes anyway, just BMX.

Peace,
Traveller
