I'm doing a pump track to be able to strike lightning next year at the track. In the middle of the yard will be a gigantic "X" shaped jump of my own thinking which will have carveable berms which constantly shoot you back at it and you will have options of different lines. As well, there will be a 4 sided verticle launch pyramid. - I think.

I don't know if this constitutes a thread or not. Probably not. Oh well. Pics to come.
Elvis
I've been thinking into doing the same thing: X pattern in the middle and all. Keep us (ME) posted.
Lonewolf
Sure will, Elvis. I have modified my idea into making the whole entire thing a tabletop jump. Like a gigantic, dirt, "x-spine" chopped in half, vertically. So far, I have planned, 90 yards of dirt total. I will wait to see what the first load looks like (18 yrds), before I let him bring 4 more loads. My hood is not the place for this sort of thing.

It's gonna be about a month, so stay tuned.

I'll also try to get video of the code enforcement people when they show up with the cops.

OOOOOOOOOH! GREAT IDEA!!!!

Make the code enforcement guys show you in the ordinance that you can't do that. If you live in an HOA your screwed

I'll be interested to see your photos. I want to build something of a mini track in my yard also, but my wife isn't fond of the idea. She said the other day I was turning the yard into a redneck version of Micheal Jackson's neverland after I put up lights on a post next to the ramp and ran a powerline to the barn. I've been into building a lot of activity stuff, we have horsehoe pits and a shooting range and I want to turn this old hayshed into an archery range, it's wired so I can light it and everything.

Can't imagine dealing with building codes, that has to really suck.

You live on a farm, where else does she think you can build a Redneck Neverland JEEZ! tongue.gif

Sounds just like I want to do, shooting, archery range and all good2.gif

We live in the city, and at the back of the house we have a 30' drop into a ravine. The property boundary actually includes a portion of the increasing elevation on the opposite side. The width of the ravine is the perfect length of a track. I also already have a 2-man pneumatic gate with lights and cadence.

My thought was to put the gate next to the garage (for power and air) at the back of the house. The elevation change already resembles an Olympic-style start hill for height and pitch. I literally could have a full-size track in a back yard that is otherwise almost useless (except for having the look and feel of being out in the secluded woods). I would only need to build the jumps.

Problem is, there's no way to get an earth mover down there without crossing a lot of other people's property. Someone's bound to object. So, I would have to bring in a crane to drop a Bobcat down there, then come back to pick it back out: $225.00 each visit.

My wife rolled her eyes.

There's nothing my city could do for ordinance to shut me down.

Well, I really should paint my house and remove some clutter, before I bring in dirt. I don't think I'm white trash, but that doesn't mean others don't.

I have a ZX11 that was crushed by a tree durring katrina and an '84 chevy stepside 4x4 with a very, very, very, very, very, very hot 350. It hasn't moved since I pulled it with my Army truck, before that it hadn't moved in a couple of years. It's a beat up, ox blood, 35" tire beast that could hang with C5 corvettes. It blew the shaft to the rear diff. then got converted to automatic. Hasn't been the same since.

Otherwise, I have some steel angle Iron, sheet metal, at least 1 turbine engine case and 4 blue 55 gallon drums next to and behind my house. No fence

The front yard usually stays great. Back yard, not so much.

I am in the process of removing these treasures. Until this gets done, I can't even think of bringing in dirt.

I promise, I am not white trash.- okay, I lied. I'm white trash.
Jen
That would be cool to have a "track" in your back yard!!! would let me practice with no one watching pointing and laughing! sarcastic_hand.gif pretty much doing that.

And I dunno, I suppose as long as all that stuff is in your back yard and not readily visible from the street, I think you're safe from white trash status!!! biggrin.gif

If it's sitting in your front yard, you're bordering on the edge...but cool as long as you don't have a bathroom fixture, either toilet, sink, or bathtub, sitting in the middle of it!
Gino
I got the go ahead to build something in our backyard. Just gonna to a single straight with full turn at the end to shoot you back down it. I downloaded the pump track manual from leelikebikes.com. Just need to figure out how much dirt I'm gonna need..

Build it quickly and go over budget before she changes her mind. Get to work now!

Yeah I figure the more stuff there is to do the more fun it is. We compromise though, I'm going to install a nice brick walkway to the front door next month, and get started on a climbing rose garden.

ha ha ha! so see...just don't get a cake at the wedding...better yet, just go to the JP...
throw a huge party afterwards. (no cake)

I bet THEN you can get a pump track in your back yard! biggrin.gif
David Campbell
Ha! Mine isn't exactly whiney, she's pretty cool most of the time. I raked a lot of leaves and cooked and did stuff over the Christmas break(back to work today, urrgh), so there is a new deck being built on the ramp and some other things are happening too, it's a trade off.
Lonewolf
[quote it's a trade off.

Yes it is, isn't it.

I'm not getting married unless a 5' Asian mid 20's falls in my lap, or a 5'9'' + blonde Islandic puts me in a head lock.

You are so polite. Please be my guest.

BMXMOM the way I surf this site is that I immediately go to "veiw new posts". To me it matters not where it ends up. I have been trying to pay more attention to what I do around here, but in the end I really could care less.

To me the whole website is basically the lounge.

Sorry if I p anyone off- but not really.

Thanks for being so sweet.

no worries. you didn't do anything wrong. it is hard to know where to put stuff like this. i just thought it might get you some input from folks doing what you are doing who might not venture into the cafe.

The way I see it is that It won't be too much dirt that I cant just spread it out when I'm done. Since I last posted I actually had the code enforcement people give us a court date to show up as the clean up was proceeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My brother had to go to court because of his crap.

Cleanup now almost totally done, but now I am in the cross hairs of a floating judge even though I live in an unincorporated area, between two towns. The scum sucker want 's me to get rid of my Army truck! Think that's gonna happen? He has no right to tell me to get rid of a material possession, and he will be gone and I an old man before I get rid of it.

Now, because some one in the hood complained about it, I'm going to do a 2.5 ton axle conversion, 20" military wheels, hydraulic steering ram, and 49" Irok tires, just like I planned to do to it when I bought it. 12,000 lb winch, and the whole bit. It's gonna be INSANE!

Let's see how the neighbors like THAT!

Dirt is forthcoming.
