Here you go BMX-dad, this'll make it easier.

It kinda looks like a Webco but the brake bridge looks wrong, I think someone posted up one of these a while back.
mr coasterbrake
do you know what quality the welds are - nice/small/even? or are they "toothpaste welds"? i have a similar frame with a different gusset and that one is a cheapie.
Racer
That looks like my bike! What is your serial number?
Here is mine, the welds are between great and moosepoop.

If it is the same someone must know what it is smile.gif
pquinnbmx
it sort of has a "CYC" look to it, sort of
Racer
Yes it does. But I made a CYC website http://cycbmx.wordpress.com and I even have a 77 CYC catalog scan and its not in it. Also CYCs had a unique brake bridge, this one is normal.
Hopefully BMX dad can post his serial number or PM me with it so we can at least confirm our bikes are the same brand.
Steve Bourke
kinda looks like a Rampar

kinda looks like a Rampar

the good ol rampars were loop tails but not single loop. If i remember correctly, rampar had 2 hole in there single head brace.
Racer
Yeah Rampars had two holes.
Still waiting for BMX Dad to shout me the serial number so we can see if its the same manufacturer.

bmx-dad
the welds seem nice

the serial # 77FU3U1 its stamped on the bottom bracket. The first U might be a O hard to tell.

The fork has AKISU stamped on bolth drop outs.

I checked the bmxmuseume for akisu and theres one on there but not a loop tail.

the cranks are weard there fatter on top and taper down and get almost square looking?

hope this helps.
Racer
Yup we have the same frame. I dont have the forks.
My serial number is 77F0405
So since they made over a hundred of these someone must know what they are.
Mine had older then USA Kuwahara decals on it (pre 1979 font) so I thought maybe Japan Kuwahara.
Perhaps these are 77 Sekais?
I know by 79 Sekai was pushing hard in the US. Maybe they started in 77 ?? Look at the similarities to their 79 bike. Both their 79 and ours are looptails, both have box behind BB, both have a front gusset (yeah in 79 they went to a more modern Mongoose like but in 77 may have used a more Redline like single gusset).
http://sekaibmx.wordpress.com/

I think both your U's are 0's. Stamping on mine is also not closed but thats just the stamp, looked closely and it was clear they were meant to be 0's.
bmx-dad
I looked around the museum and the Akisu listed under oldschoolatm looks to have a similar gussett to the gussett on mine? if you read the comments some are saying it was made by RANDOR bike company. Any idea? Where thay around in 77?
Racer
I'm not sure but I think all Akisu bikes started their serial numbers with an A. As for Randor dont know anything about them so it could be.
Ok looked at the bike your referencing. It is similar however the gusset is different. Mine is a half moon and that is a little bit different. Also all the features like the rear dropouts etc are different. Could be because thats a 83 Randor and our bikes are 77 Randors. First we would have to make sure Randor was even in business in BMX in 1977. Second it looks like his bike has a head badge rivited on. Ours (or at leasnt mine) does not have holes from a badge.

So I'm saying NOT a Randor but maybe a Akisu. But again pretty sure Akisu started all their bikes with an A in the serial number. It could be a Akisu made for another compnay [ like Sekai smile.gif ]
pquinnbmx
I'm willing to bet the akisu forks are incorrect for that frame- and added later. The akisu stuff is kind of mid schoool, like 1983-85. That frame does indeed look older, like 1979 or earlier. I would say that a tange fork or ashtabula fork- would be more appropriate. edit: as a matter of fact, most of the parts are wrong - if my assumption about the frame year= is correct.
