Heres the latest addition to the family, 1982 Cook Bros Racing. Factory chain tensioners, and one of those groovy uni-clamp stem/fork combos. One of the coolest parts of the project was shooting the pics. I did my own backdrop, borrowed a buddies tripod for my digital camera(big help) and I really had a blast dialing in the pics. Special thanks to Steve @ Bullseye for the annodizing of the seatclamp, stem clamps, and hub flanges, and to Sam and the crew @ West Bank Cyclery for the wheel building and tons of help!, Claude wink.gif

Wow Claude, you have the most amazing collection of Cook Bros...

but this one is my favorite...blue components set it off beautifully! Just stunning...the photo's look totally professional studio...

...hats off and congrats on yet another PERFECT COOK BROS!

ps personally, the only component Cook Bros made I wasn't a fan of, was the laid back post...the straight post looks awesome!
BIRD6961

Oh Claude what is the serial number?
jetman
That brings back so many memories of a good riding bud from the 70's who got a cook's at a discount due to his inspired riding.(4th at 1980 jag's for example) fast dude, fast, solid top performing bike from bitd!
masterstint
Thanks everyone, much appreciated.....I build them how I "see them in my head",,,but its awesome when your peers dig it too!,,,

Brian & Andy, thank you! drinks.gif

Cheez, whats up buddy,,,ready for some hooters hot wings?, ......I wish this bike woulda been a barnyard score but it was all overtime pay funding this one!!......Bullseye cycle co. did the annodizing, Steve Jackson was the contact, he chimes in here from time to time,,,there is a thread in the positive section already......I must say I was very pleased with the results and the turnaround time of the process.............as far as my shop, we are currently planning to move, searching for a building everyday,,hoping to end up in a nicer part of town, fingers crossed!

GR8BNDINI,,,hope your doing well & HELL yeah this ones coming to Rockford!!

Big Bob P,, your right me & Joe got are parts annodized in the same batch,,,isnt Joe just the coolest cat?

84profile, drinks.gif serial# 2399, has to be close to one of the last ones made in this "model",,,,highest serial # I've every come across too....and Im not a big fan of the "lay back" seatpost either, so I figured a Race Inc would go well...........Im still not certain to the "method" CBR used pertaining to serial #'s, always looking for new imput from any former employees etc.

Again,, thanks to all!!

Awesome bike! That uni-clamp must be a difficult part to come by. What type of headset did you use?

Can you please take better pix next time? LOL!!! Awesome build, Top notch, top notch!
The Red Baron
Claude, I wonder if anybody but an employee like me who laced up hundreds of Cook wheel sets would notice the detail of the gold tone axles and nuts?

What process did you use to duplicate that look?

The whole bike sure turned out great! I am pretty sure there was never a Cook on the track back in 82 that looked as good as yours.

Great investment of your overtime funds.

Who took the pics?

Did you get to play in the snow today??
Double Chevron
Claude, you're still very high on standards when it comes to build some bikes and now I see you wanna reach the same when shooting them!!!

I just enjoy ! that's awesome!!!!
bmxerpete
Wow. Just...freakin'...wow!

That is gorgeous...I see a "Best 80's" win at Rockford in your future. biggrin.gif

Thanks guys!! wink.gif drinks.gif

JP, that headset was actually sold as a cook bros I believe,,, Im pretty sure it was produced by Tange, and then modified at the CBR factory to work better up against the uni-clamp, then relabled as CBR

Alex, hope your doing well,,I did the pics & that was a blast, I suggest anyone with a digital camera give it a go!!, , we got about 1-2 inches of snow,,,just enough to stay home, LOL.....did you get snow yesterday?

Dennis, good eye as usual!,, I actually used "Grade 8", nuts bolts and washers from a NBW supply store....they match my NOS cook hubs well.....Im not sure what that particular gold tone is, but my guess is its an "anti corrosive",,, maybe if Ted C is out that he could chime in,,

Gold candnium plating (cad), corrotion inhibitor. Silver cad can be polished like chrome, it's just not very thick
Walter Holda
Very very nice. One of the finest CBRs If have seen. Ahh it sure makes me miss my 1980 CBR....
Beaver
Outstanding bike! Are those Cook handlebars behind that plate? Know where I can get a set? How about cranks? I purchased the hubs from you today on eBay(I presume they were a 2nd set). Same anodizing process? Once I get the wheels laced, and get some bars and cranks, serial #1982 will be assembled and pics posted. Again, OUTSTANDING!!
Cook Bros Seeker
That bike is the holy grail for CBR lovers like myself.
gnarlyman
Great bike!!! Seem to notice that the hubs, seat post clamp, and nipples are the exact shade of blue - are they not original factory anodizing?
masterstint
Thanks! smile.gif

Cheez, good info!

Beaver, yep, cook bros handlebars,,I sent you an email to the addy on your paypal, you'll love the hubs

Gnarlyman, good eye,,, the hub flanges, seatclamp, and stem clamps were all annodized by Bullseye Cycle Co., thanks to Steve Jackson! drinks.gif

Not quite in Biloxi but where I was driving the rig in Wiggins and Waveland it was snowing, very neat seeing all that. And I forgot to say, incredible build!!!!
