Can you elaborate on the process of using silver solder to fake chrome?

Metal types that will take the solder?
process for applying the solder?
where to purchase silver solder?
polishing technique for it?
etc.

I have some thin/missing chrome on a fork that i'd like to make perty, like you did in the sting restoration. wondering if it's possible or not.
