If you flatlanded back in the day, I bet it won't take too long to get the neurons firing and that muscle memory back. Keep at it!

thanks guys. i was trying fire hydrants and tailwhips, both of which i used to be able to do bitd. i'm riding a '03 haro craigslist special that i bought just to get me back on 2 wheels till i can afford something better. i know this is going to take a lot of practice but i've never been so stoked to be riding...even when i was a kid...i think i took it for granted as a youngster.
ps raddad is my muse! haha!

the geometry on a 03 haro is going to be geared more for street and park riding....... not flatland.
keep trying and playing around, but once you get the right bike, it will all come back to you..... (for the most part)
and wurd, you dont suk, your just rusty....... the guy who suks is the one who doesnt try anything

It'll come back to you. There was a period from about '92 to '98 where I was hard core into mountain biking and stopped riding flat. If you can afford a new school flatland bike, you'd be surprised at how quick you can pick your riding back up. Personally, I'll never go back to an old school rider, but there are a lot of old school tricks that just beg for one. Like the cherry picker...

DUUUDE!

I guess my point is if you want to advance your flatland tricks faster, a new school bike will be better than an old school one.

These things take time. I still can't do some of the tricks I used to do. The thing you have to remember is to have fun. Everything else will follow. Keep at it and don't give up. Make some post about your progression. Somewhere out there...someone is doing the same exact trick as you. You will feed off each other and make dreams come true.

thanks rad dad! i am definitely having fun although it can be frustrating trying something you know you can do but are just not getting. i know it will come back with practice. i think i'll just take it slow and try to get maybe two tricks worked out at a time then move on to something else once i start landing them regularly. first on the agenda are the aforementioned tailwhip and fire hydrant!

The most successful athletes I've worked with are successful because they concentrate on the journey, not the destination. Have fun and enjoy the process while you are in the process, and you will get to where you want to be. I know it sounds kinda like Zen B.S., but it's true. Every Olympic athlete I know says this over and over -- it's a very common philosphy among champions.
