I liked the 90's better.

Nothing better than the eighties if I could only go back and do it over the ladies would have to take a number. Things were so much easier then. Graduated in 87 and Chandler BMX is still there but BMX has died compared to then. Even the Olympics weak try to revive the sport got no air time. The eighties rocked!

couldnt agree more. The tracks had way more riders. The tracks were way more fun (they were made to jump not manual). The bikes were CHROME!!!

I remember when not all riders made it to the main at local races. Havent seen that in a while.

Class of 86 here too. I miss the health and fitness of never worrying about a bad back or knees, having tons of energy, always feeling great.

No, haha. Probably mostly because I'm a little younger, I graduated in 93. For me the 90's was ages 14 to 25, which I think is a great time in a lot of people's lives. I liked the 90s music better, I had more fun, traveled more, went to college, grew up, etc. I liked the 80's too though.

Unlcle Rico, LOL. Nice! I'm still riding every day. My 6 yr. old is riding a full size 20" Redline with the seat jacked down and mini handlebars. I'm still riding my 20" Form 1 all over the place. My little brother is trying to get me to race at the track in Hagerstown, MD and I might. I remember riding to the country store, buying a can of Skoal and not being able to ride back. Got sick too.

ah, the days of no worries. class of '89 but I was old for my class because of late birthday.
I remember getting up in the summertime and ride till the cows came home. bikes were a plenty and you could order almost anything you wanted. the punk music rocked and you could order custom Vans direct from California.

I agree i miss the 80s too

I get my kids outside and let them play all day. I swear, there was nothing better than waking up Saturday morning, eating a big bowl of sugary Cap'n Crunch and leave for the day on the old bmx bike. I can honesty tell you I don't remember exactly how we spent that time, but, I know we were outside and the bike took me where I wanted to go. My best friend that I've been friends with since we were 12 yrs. old lives a mile from me. I ride over to his house all the time. He just restored an old Formula One and he is getting back into riding as well. We just ride around the neighborhood and find things to jump.

I miss it too. No cookie cutter bikes. American made Water hazards at the track and chicks with tight Jordache and big hair. Class of 85.

I hear ya on that, I grew up around the same time as you. I liked the 80s more because I started playing guitar in the 80s and I loved glam rock bands. When the 90s came along, so did Nirvana (yuck) and the entire alt-rock train, and I hated it. So, to me the 80s represented a time when music was over the top and so was everything else. I miss it, but I really grew up in the 90s.

I miss the 70's more, a much easier time for me. The 80's started out OK but got real tough. Class of 81

It was the 80s for me, for sure. I graduated from HS in 84 and was right in the middle of the punk/ska/thrasher/etc. fads that came and went back then. For me too, every Saturday (and Sunday for that matter) revolved around an all-day bike pilgrimage to "wherever" with as many friends as possible, looking for stuff to jump or fall off of/on.

My only weekend instructions from the parents were to complete the chores early and to be home not too long after the sun sets. Pretty simple stuff. The only thing we worried about was getting nicked by a speeding car, when we had to ride next to a busy road.

Music too was awe (wait for it...) some! I still listen to 80s bands (U2, Dead Kennedys, Cure, AC/DC, Depeche Mode, Rick Astley (ok, kidding there), Devo, Adam and the Ants, Cheap Trick, Romeo Void, The Clash (of course), Duran Duran (I'll admit), INXS, etc.). Ah, now I'm really feeling nostalgic.

And yeah, I miss the chrome...everything these days is black with black and maybe green and black with black. Oh well, I'm stocked to have the chance to ride again these days, though a usual sojourn is about 30 minutes for me. Of course, if I could find another oldster in my neighborhood to ride with, that might go up. smile.gif
