Stoked.. got my NOS '87 black suede Vision Street Wears today. Wore them out tonight to the mall (how appropriately '80s) and felt like I was walkin' on sunshine. LOL.

Hope to get some flatland practice in tomorrow- damn straight I'm wearin' them. I'm surprised how light they feel! I haven't had Visions like this in 20 years. I guess after years of heavy, padded skate shoes, going back to the basics in simple suede/rubber high tops is like... fresh air, or something. They feel really light, like... Vans classic high-tops.

Here's a stock pic.. mine are like this, and I'm feelin' HYPE.

There was a pair just like that in my size on ebay yesterday. I meant to bid, but got busy with work and school. sad.gif Anyone know where I can get a pair in size 11?
STRIKE
Nice, but I like these as well.

I like that song too Strike. She kinda looks like Linda Hamilton from Terminator.

I had a pair of those, loved em. I always wanted the ones with white rubber instead of black like Mat Hoffman wore circa 1988.

Dude, keep watching eBay! It's where I got mine, and mine are, you guessed it, size 11.

Oh yeah, dude... the black with the white rubber = godlike.

Never find those again, except for a fortune.

LOL, that's why I titled this post Nu Shooz, I'm glad someone else got it!

;-)

Vision makes those still, but you can bet your bippy your original ones are made a lot better. I had the black ones just like that (new, not the orig NOS) a couple years ago. They were, eh, OK...wore out pretty quick though.

It's like old vs. new Vans. They were so much better BITD.

There will be a pair of these under the tree this year.... biggrin.gif

I don't know if the OGs were built all that great Jon, BITD I got a pr of red suede ones. First time I rode w/ them the sole split on one shoe from about mid toe to around midarch.
Of course when skatepool had them a few years back, I got another pr just like them smile.gif

Ah, me too!

Can't remember how long they lasted, or how they met their demise...I went through some shoes back in those days, riding and skating like I was. Ahh, memories...

Yep... My sole completely split down the center the second day that I wore them.... I was turned off by those shoes after that and rode Airwalks.

I think Vision came out with a more durable sole rubber compound later but I never bought another pair.

On a more serious note, I had a pair just like those (black high tops) and loved them. Great find man.

I wanted the Hi-top Vans in neon green and blue like Dave Nourie had, but I could never find them. I had to settle for neon green and black. Those were cool.

I also wanted the low-top lace-up Vans with pink toes/heel and aqua in the middle like RL wore. Looked for those for years, finally picked them up in 87 when I was out in Cali for the Velodrome AFA. I was so stoked, I wore them on the plane home. By the time I got back to Chicago, my feet had broken out with blisters everywhere because I was allergic to something in them. That was the only time I wore them.

Never wore Vision shoes (just clothes). A buddy had them and they came apart so fast I didn't want to even try. Besides, by the time Vision shoes came out I was mostly wearing Adidas thanks to McCoy.

Whats odd is that BITD, I had 3 pairs of Visions, and they all wore uhh.. "Street Tough," as their add line read. Two were the LEATHER variety... I had black ones that I wore for years that never said die, until I think my moms pitched them when I went to college. The red ones also were TOUGH and never wore out.. I skated in these forever, have no idea what happened to them. I also had a pair of Turquoise/White suede, that again, I wore into oblivion, and never had any problems. I wonder what caused all of you dudes to have the soles split or come undone? Given their huge popularity back then, I imagine Vision must have had multiple factories/assembly points then, across Taiwan/Hong Kong/Wherever, and perhaps the molding/processing of the soles, along with the glues used were dosed/mixed wrong or god only knows. I don't ever remember any of my buddies, mostly skaters, have any issues with them either.

Hmm.... life is a missss-ta-reeeee....

I got em'!!!! Paid $75 with shipping on eBay. I had a pair just like em' BITD, but I always liked the grey suede with black soles better. Sad thing is, if I remember correctly, they weren't really that comfortable to wear. I think I actually liked my Adidas like DMC wore better. I remember having two pairs of the Adidas, and when it came time to get another pair I coudln't find them. Oh well, I got them mostly for nostalgia anyway. smile.gif

Word! But dude, you shoulda waited for an auction, it's what I did, to save a few bucks over "Buy it Now." But I guess it doesn't matter, cause you're gonna be like me and suddenly forget that you have other shoes besides these. LOL.

Here's some of my "OG" skateshoes from the 80's, still kickin' more or less.

These were my first "brand name", skateboarding specific shoes and i was SO proud wearing them. The sole has been replaced twice, that tells they used to be pretty tough quality. That was always the problem, the sole wore out but the upper was still like new!

I liked these too and it's a small miracle they're still in one piece.

I can't remember the specific model of these, we just called the the Vision "V-shoes". I bought these off form a firend so they were used already but in decent shape. These days the sole has been attacked by dry rot so i will have to take them to the shoemaker one of thesedays to replace the sole. Beyond that they are still fine.

ERX-150's from '88 aka Cons the low version of the "Mullen-shoe". Still in nice condition, for some reason they didn't work for skateboarding that well cause they're so fat. Matter of preference though.

NOS pair of VSW canvas hi-tops i bought a few years ago.

Actually I don't think these are made anymore. They used to be for sale online recently (within the last year or so) but no one has them anymore.

And Hot Topix in most shopping malls here in the USA used to carry them but no longer.

I wanted to get a pair of the classic "Suede-Hi" in brown and a pair of "Suede Low" in black.

I emailed both addresses on their site and they both came back to me. I searched and searched online for a phone number to call with no luck.

Here's the site but it hasn't been updated in a few years....

THESE are THE HYPE. Front 242 wore them in their "Rhythm of Time" video... the one with Richard 23 pushing that shopping cart around in the desert, to obtain things for that fat opera singer lady.

CONS are off the hook... I used to skate in a pair of the high tops, back in 90-91, after I busted up my ankle snowboarding. Regular skate shoes wouldn't cut it for me, for ankle support for a while. I LOOVED me some CONS!

NOS pair of VSW canvas hi-tops i bought a few years ago.

I had that SAME exact pair, senior year of high school, 89-90. I wish I knew what happened to them! I LOVED these. I put red laces in mine for an extra bit o' 80's funk.
