Well I got in the mail today what were "mint but faded" cranks....
[bought them on teh internets so i guess it stands to reason they are teh suck]

Any idea on what to do with this little mess?
It looks bad enough to me that they just need to be polished up and put on a non-ridden bike?

Let me know if you have a creative ideas other than my current cussing under the breath.

have you tried slipping a spindle in them to see how well it fits?does the spindle slide all the way through the cranks arm/s?

Locktite make a gap filler that I've had some good luck with, how well it works depends on how hard you plan on riding the bike. are you just going to pedal it around or race it,jump it?

I have had cases at our track were a kid has rounded out his crank arm on the taper fit- not having a new arm to put on, I cut a piece of pop can to wrap around the spindle and press the crank on. usually it will hold the crank on tight and in one case the kid is still racing it that way with no issues. Just a thought

These are going on a Sting rebuild which doesn't have to be perfect, but the wallered out arm looks bad enough to me that i'm not sure it will tighten properly (have yet to test it but will)

I'm wondering if the big boys have any ideas on fixing this permanently such as adding aluminum or some kind of machined insert, etc?
