Kuwahara Models
KE-1
The KE-1 was the very first Kuwahara Model made.

KZ-1
The second model which was lighter and stronger. The Frames and Forks were made by Tange.

KZ-2
Same model as the KZ-1, but with different parts.

ET
The BMX bike used in the hit movie Extra Terrestrial. The bike that made Kuwahara what it is today. It came in White and Red.

Nova
The Nova was designed for high speed that was still not super expensive. It was the same bike as the ET just it doesn't have the front gusset.

LaserLite
The ultimate Kuwahara ever made. The bike designed for high performance.

Survivor
The survivor replaced the Nova, but it was much more affordable. Same dropouts, but it wasn't a loop.

Apollo
The Apollo was the cheaper, toy store bike Kuwahara made. It came in the ET colors as well. It was the last Kuwahara and lowest quality.

If you have any further information on Kuwahara please reply. Thank you to Jamie Harrell for creating the Kuwahara website.

Let's get Kappa or Kuwahara, for that matter, to do one of these. I get one.

Griggs?

All the info you need is here

My Kuwahara Website

Look at the models and history, also look at the bikes I posted above, the gussets and dropouts are totally different on the KE-1 and KZ-1 bikes. Cheers

There is another site here:

http://www.kuwaharasite.org

Michael Ringseis and myself, along with a host of others in Singapore have tried to make it as authentic as possible.

By the way, there is no such thing as a KYZ frame. KY frames, yes.

This is a Kuwahara Nova. It had a hi-tensile steel rear and a chromoly steel front. If you look on the seat tube, that green sticker is in the place of the "ALL TUBES TANGE COMPETITION 4130 CHROMOLY"

the LaserLite and the Survivor pretty much used the same frame. At the time, lots of companies like Vector and GHP were releasing bikes that featured their pro frames with lower-specced parts. Another company was RedLine which used their PL-20 frame in their 700p
Ringer
yep, the survivor was the Laserlite with lesser parts. Not a replacement for the Nova.
Ringer
ok, now I've come across an ad that kinda throws a kink into both theories. Its from an 83 BMXA that shows a KZ-1 frame with Laser Bars, a Laser post, a couple other Laserlite parts, and a one piece crank.

The Survivor is a Laserlite or KZ-1 frame with a 1 piece crank to cut the price down.

Go to Kuwaharabmx.com. The new 2009 models are now being shown and they are sick indeed.
