Did the original HARO lightning bolt plates have velcro fasteners or were zip ties used to fasten them?

Was HARO printed/stamped/embossed on the back side?
Ken Pliska
Zip Ties (and to be era correct, you would use "ladder ties")

No logo on the backside.

Sad story, I just started talking with an old friend that raced many years ago. He said not to long ago he was cleaning out a storage room and found several original Haro plates still in the plastic. He asked around if anyone wanted them, no one did so he threw them away.

Why did you have to put that on us for?

That is my holy grail so to speak, to find one in two tone blue.

I wish Bob Haro would make some reissue plates or whatever you would call them. I would be down for some of those.

I wonder if that would be legally possible for him to do. More likely Haro Bikes. Supposedly, the original mold still exists, so...

He could do the lightning bolt ones with his signature instead of the HARO logo on the front.

Maybe a signed limited edition of 500 or so would be SOOOOOO RAD!

He did design a new updated lightning plate this year. Here are some plates I don't have mounted on bikes and Bob's 2008 plate that was taken to new levels to celebrate what the plates and he did for BMX.

Some more lightning bolt plates

Bob thanks a ton for creating something so cool for all of us back then and still now!!!

There wouldn't have been a mold for the original plates. Just a $200 steel rule die and a propane torch. Even the first series one plates were die cut but I think they went to a mold soon after they came out. All of the lightening bolt, type 2, JT, Factory, etc. plates started flat and were shaped after the sticker was applied, it wouldn't have worked any other way. I'm sure he could remake factory plates but I'd rather see classics like that just stay that way, redoing things just cheapens the memory.

JT... That Jason Jensen Torker is pure and plain fantastic. I totally admire the work that went into that. That bike fascinated me in that issue of BMXA. As did the Eddy King Torker. You got those bikes RIGHT on the money. Truly amazing!

Do a "search" on this site.
I've posted plenty of info on the original Haro plates here.
The first run lightning bolt production plates were called "Factory Plates".
Then there were some in 79' with no logo at all that were Bob Haro made (not Neal copies).
Then he started running his name Haro on the top.
I don't recall any velcro being used until ....... geez I don't remember that ever happening.

Great collection of plates and see a Factory Plates one there too. The Haro plates really added the extra coolness for the bikes back then. The new lightning bolt plate is really cool to and the artists did a fine job.
