my son's friend has a gt he wants to trade with my son. it has the straight cut on the top tube with gt stamped. it also has gt/profile cranks on it. the decals are a large slanted gt with no wings and old school brakes. can anyone give me a rough guess as to what year it may be? thanks in advance.

The old school (probably 85 and earlier) have a serial number on the inside of the drive side dropout. The number is a date code.

Do the chain stays curve up? GT went back to a flat back and stamped GT in the early 90's I think. Could have bee 89 though.

i noticed the serial number was on the outside of the left rear dropout. it has profile hubs also. woo hoo!

a stamped straight-cut & OS style brakes sounds like early '90s.

i looked on the museum and the closest i've seen is an '89 interceptor. thanks guys!
