Hey guys,,,
I had this frame up for auction on Ebay and realized the serial number is not the same as a Team Mongoose is supposed to be. The Down tube decal says Team Mongoose and appears to be all origional decals and paint. The serial is E115663 No Cxx Ot T. just the E115663. I apologize to anyone who bid or was watching it. I just wanted to make shure I wasn't going to make a mistake as sell it as something it wasn't. Thanks for any help!

yea I saw that. I assume this frame is after 1981. Are there any good ways to determine that it is a Team Goose and a cro mo frame?

Put it on the scale. A Team Goose frame (frame only, no cups, etc.) weighs in at 5 pounds 5 ounces (I just set one on my postal scale). Is the seat stay flattened?

That's a May '81 frame.
Check the inside of the seat stay on the sprocket side - if it's a real Team frame it will have a clear flattened section of tubing where the seat stay connects to the dropout. That's the place where regular motomag frames got a lot of chain rub.
If it doesn't have the flat, it's just a painted '81 Motomag frame.
Cheers

Alright boys! Thanks Kurt and Ken. It does have the flat spot on the seat stay and it weighs 5lbs 6oz. Looks like I'm good to go! I appreciate the help Derek

I thought all Mongoose gusset frames after `80 had the flattened seat stay? For sure all of the Team's & Supergooses had the "T" stamped in the S# until they went to the step down dropout midway in `81. After the dropout change, all gusset frame Teams/Supers had a three holed brake bridge.
