I don't know if he ever landed a factory ride but the fastest guy I recall seeing

I used to really like his style but would he be considered old school? I don't remember him being around until late 80s/90s. Whatever years he raced, the dude was bad.

Santa Ana, ese! Orale!

Let's don't forget that So Cal was also the home of the LEGENDARY Luckys, Parks, Honda Hills, Centennial, Sheep Hills (didn't come on until the 90s though), Jones Track, etc.

Just consider that the Luckys Crew alone comprised Maddog, The Buckle, and yours truly. Between the three of us, there is a premiere rider-owned company, BMXA covers, hundreds of published photos, and 4 silver cups. Yep, the three amigos, all from our local trails. BEAT THAT NOR CAL!!!

Okay, so I really didn't contribute much to all those accomplishments, but I was the trail boss! biggrin.gif

Orlando had some pretty fast locals.

Eric Abbadessa - Standard

Adam "The Bomb" Richards - Kastan

David Milham - Eagle Snacks & others I can't remember right now

Michelle Carnes - rode for several teams

Shelby James - Profile & Murray

funny thing about Shelby, the dude rarely practiced, and on the rare occasions he would race local events he would just roll up, whip everyone's butts and leave. I guess it really wasn't that funny for the rest of us that had to race him.

Milham also rode for GT
Tony Synaka - Kastan
Percy Owens (from Sarasota but close enough)- Free Agent

...Marty Luker- Traker- I'm not sure if Luker ever got a number 1 but he was really fast. He was going up against Loncarevich and that class, back when Loncarevich was on Diamond Back. I guess that would have been 15 and 16x....

Marty Luker was no.2 because Doug Prather Factory Skyway was no.1

That's Marty Luker(no.2) behind Doug Prather (no.1)

Also from Amarillo Texas was Albert Delgado who rode for Factory Schwinn, and also had a story about him in BMX Action.

Doers anyone have current contact information for Albert Delgado? He has been nominated for the Texas BMX Hall of Fame, and we are ccurrently unable to locate him.

there's a bunch of guys from the 70s and early 80s plus
John Piant
Steve Moore's father just joined
Tim Kikauris
Rick Barker
Bob Hunt

Tim Judge is a member but doesn't post. So is Renny Roker.

Did you know Dru Potts? He's a member as well but doesn't post much if at all. Still, you'd be able to connect with a bunch of faces you haven't seen in a while.

i recognize all the names, they are all a little older. i raced on freshour with tim after i left redline, i think steve had a younger brother joe more my age,i raced more in the ages of brian howard, phil carona, tracy bogler, kevin conrad. think i started in 80 and stopped in 85-86 as a 14 or 15 x. had 5 missouri #1 plates and never made it to enough nationals to do any good on that level.did place really well at several as far as trophy. often raced the older locals when enough my age wouldnt show. are you my age or a little older.remember the name dru potts, was he on redline or freshour.

Dru was on Freshour. I used to race against Dru, Barker, TK, Travis McGhee, etc. Steve Moore did have a brother named Joe (same as his father). I remember Kevin Conrad. He'd shake his head all the way around the track. Really fast little guy on Kuwahara. You should definitely check out the Facebook site. I guarantee you'll run into some old guys you used to know. Brian Howard isn't on there but his older brother Noel is always on.

Orlando had some pretty fast locals.

Eric Abbadessa - .CycleCraft, GHP, Kastan, Standard

Adam "The Bomb" Richards - GHP, Kastan

David Milham - Eagle Snacks/Profile & GT

Michelle Carnes - rode for several teams

Shelby James - Profile & Murray

Todd Corbitt - Torker, Murray, Auburn

Eric Bartoldus - Auburn, GT

John Paul Rogers - S&M

Termite Hudson - Profile

Randall Neave - Standard

C.J. McGuire - too many sponsors to count

Raymond Rogers - World Class racing

Fixed that for you, William. wink.gif

That is by no means a complete list. Orlando has always had stacked local races. It kinda sucked but at the same time it was kinda cool. You'd have all these crazy fast guys in your class at the locals, but that was good for training, 'cause then at the nationals it would always just be the normal local guys that beat you. The bad part is they would always beat you...
