figured he'd go that route, due to his uncle Derrike.

Raich was racing up until a couple of years ago I believe, and may still be. I heard he was a Chiropractor. His dad was always a nice guy. I would love to get my hands on a complete set of "Northwest BMX".

Mitch Raich was still very competitive when he hung it up in 2003-2004. When DY and I were at Sea Otter in 06, one of Bart McDaniel's buddies (I do not remember who) told us he was doing the domestic thing and spending time with his kids that season. Until then, Darrell said Bart was still running DH and DS events. One of the Housemans (I thought it was Rich) raced his DS bike in the ABA Grands in 2005 and made the main.
Didn't Marty Ehnat move to Chandler when Walt started that short lived competing sanction right down the street from the ABA offices?
Great bio on Ernie Cope. That is cool!

Funny thing............
A few years ago, a guy named Chris Backus married hot little 41 year old actress Mira Sorvino.
As soon as I heard it, I worked the google on the internet machine (my favorite line from Blades of Glory).
It wasn't the BMX racer Chris Backus.
Wouldn't that have been a trip?

I asked Mike Raich if Mitch would get back on his bike, since Mike is re-opening Peninsula Indoor, and he said he didn't think so. Just focused on Career/ Family.
One of the Houseman's runs the Loop'd Network w/ Sponsorhouse, or something like that.

I found that Chris Backus pic while searching out a memory insurer about him using the two speed deal.
The following website has lots of cool Hutch pics:

BUMP, and maybe we should change the title of this thread to "Washington State riders from the 80's", just a suggestion. It might get a little more activity.

I saw Nick a few weeks ago at the Eugene Indoor. He was out there while his kid was tearing up the track.
About a decade ago while we were checking the ABA membership records for Oregon (to do a mass mailing) I remember seeing that Nick still had an active membership.

Here's Chris Backus with that two speed deal on his Hutch:

That 2 speed was made by Browning, the same people that make rifles. My son Gerald also had one. I recall a National Weekend in the Lower Mainland of BC when Gerald beat Chris 22 out of 23 motos.

Lucien, if this happened when Chris was 14/15 years old, your son was ripping. I raced Chris alot during my last 2 years in the sport, and he was consistently one of the fastest guys on the track. He was deep in the mix with Mike Crehan and I for the NBL #1 plates (15x and 15 cruiser title) in 1986, but finished 2 on little bike and 3 on cruiser.
What was your son's name? Did he race nationally?
