What should it have?, I was told it was 100% original, except for the tires.

I had the same scrambler, only the frame was black and the mags were red. I believe it was called "The Black Phantom Mag Scrambler". The chain guard was the same.

No kidding? I don't remember a black phantom

I have a Phantom with a chrome frame. when I got it it had some stock huffy steel hoops on it I suspect it had red tuffs originally. I ended up putting on some yellow Schwinn Magalloys on it so I can cruse it around at the swapmeets. sun_bespectacled.gif

Oh yea! try and guess what my area code is. laugh.gif

Pretty sure the stock chain guard was flat black with a white pin stripe . If the shop put pads on there bikes they had the black scrambler padset . Both the bikes were being sold in the same shops so a mechanic could have swaped out the chainguard by mistake .

1977-1978 Mag Scrambler (or same era Scrambler 36/36) would have the Black chain guard with the pinstripe, by the time they had Tuff IIs, they were called Phantom Scramblers so that looks like the correct one for that bike.

Yea I forgot to mention that my schwinn is a '79 model year. Jay, yes I do get out to Orange Y to ride but it's been over a year since I was there last. I busted up my knee last year and that cut out my track time. but I'm starting to get the itch to hit the track again. smile.gif

But back to the boy's life issue. has anyone ever scaned and posted the whole thing? I can't recall ever seeing it posted in it's entierty

Just started a Scrambler History thread. It sheds light on the chainguard and model names smile.gif

Yep, I had a Black Phantom as well. I'll have to dig up a picture of it from BITD. I upgraged to candy red box bars when I picked it up at the Schwinn shop in FLA.
