It doesn't bother my wife one bit. The way she looks at it, the money could be spent on something worse like drugs or strip clubs.

it sound like everyone wishes they were you, Adrian. the way I look at it, the money spent looks better in the garage and bedroom than around my waist. the bicycles I have look better than the beer I would have drank anyways!

my wife biotches once in awhile but it sounds like i have it made because she said the den was mine to fill up with bikes and when we go to the beach i take my race bike and she likes to ride the monoshock but then again i only have 6 old school bikes restored and my road bike and both my race bikes are the living room and a dohalf a dozen projects in the storage building.

on a funny note thou i was going to start a thread on this but i mite as well turn it loose here, anytime someone calls the house and wants to know what i am doing or she walks in and i am on the internet she tells people that i am looking at ( BIKE PORN ) and it was even her idea to start a post on here about that, she thought we needed a catchy fraise for our obsesion. pretty cool for being married 20 years in nov.

Yeah, bmxmom is cool. My wife doesn't understand much about the bikes. I get "what are you going to do with kids bikes"? Duh, hang em from the ceiling in the garage and look at them. I do get them down now and then and air up the tires and a ride them up the street and back, but for the most part they are on the ceiling.

She puts up with it as long as I don't over do it. When there is really something that costs, I do run it by her and present the case and reason for 'really needing it". I then get, "which one are you getting rid of then?" I tell her which part or whatever, then I get to buy and then forget to sell (hehe).

But whenever she really starts in about it, I casually take her up to the craft room and show her all of HER scrapbooking stuff. Pretty much nips it in the bud right there. No comparison.

Maybe the guy just couldn't bring himself to tell her she was a b_ _ _ _ and he was leaving her, so he just threw himself into his hobby and ignored her to the point where she had enough and it was her idea to leave. He wins both ways...more bike stuff and free from her.

Man, I have enough problems. I am not going to get a wife/boss. No way.

Tell them all this: How much did your ring cost? Okay now, What can IT do? Honey did you put your jewelry and shoes in the garage before you came to bed?

I dunno, but there is plenty women spend money on that doesn't make sense.

Lonewolf, wives are cool as long as you communicate!! I really have a cool wife. You just have to let her 'think' she is the boss rolleyes.gif The main thing is we communicate on the big things...like parenting the kids and very much on money. I hate debt. Other than house and car, we carry no rollover debt, credit card balances, each month. We live comfortably within our means, so items over $250 or so (on both sides of the fence) get discussed. Some times are better than others depending on bills and kids activities, etc. I am just glad she is not a 'shopper' or a 'material girl'.

As for the bikes on the ceiling of the garage...the garage is my domain. I keep my bikes on the pulley hooks so I can easily get them down, and it keeps them out of the way so kids dont mess with them. Plus I see them every day when I leave and when I get home.

That70sguy, I will have to use the Bike Porn line sometime.

I lucked out. My wife started showing interest. I gave her the 24 quad and she started riding too. She already took a few bad spills. I thought that would be the end of that. But, she is still riding. Now if I could only surf better than her.............

Jeremy, she has a very nice pair of ..... SOCKS! boy, does she ride like that all the time? it's very cool that your wife is into riding. I bet the weather in Hawii is great year round. what's with the carpet? does it keep the weed control down?
Jeremy K.
Bob,

She rode like that the first few times. Since it was summer time. Those SOCKS........ sarcastic_hand.gif ? She's dosen't want her shins looking like mine from getting rattrapped. As for the carpet. It gets real hot there and the red dirt gets real powdery fast. So we use the carpet to smooth out the landing area's.

Bikes weren't an issue for my now X-wife until we got divorced. Then what they were worth became an issue. When I asked her to itemize and assign value to all her stuff, the bikes suddenly became a non-issue.
