Lance and Johan are back together again, only on Astana this time. I don't know if he can win eight, but at least given his past record the tour will hopefully have some exciting moments to watch again...(Puts down Motorola jersey, hangs up postal jersey, retires Discovery jersey) Where's my Astana jersey??? New shirt same guy, Go Lance!

He's got to get past the 6 month rule for testing first. There is apparently some controversy over when he actually began testing. So he may not be able to race in January. It will be interesting to see how he fairs. He's 37 and there are a number of real strong younger riders. Of course their also dropping off like flies with doping violations. Regardless he will be an excellent team leader even if he can't beat Contedor.

Lance has expressed some concern over his safety in the '09 Tour with the French fans and stuff, I dont think he will start the race personally, plus he has some past doping allegations that are going to come into play next summer. Truth be told he has some doping issues and this will keep him off the start line. All publicity.

Does it matter if he races the Tour or not? He has proved everything. But I think he is going to anyways, because it is the biggest stage for him to promote the LIVESTRONG campaign. Reports from his camps are saying that he is just as fit and strong as ever at this time of the year. So I think he will be fine.

Lance, like Kobe and A Rod, is an unlikeable robot. Great at what they do, but empty vessels. No kids are growing up wanting to be these guys. The tour is all doped up anyhoo
