I would love to have one of the earlier racers/pioneers from the 70's speak. Say....David Clinton, Bobby Encinas, Rick Twomey....Just throwing out a few..

I agree, STU would be an excellent speaker. I can only imagine the stories he has to tell of the early days.
Seems like within the last year or so,numerous racers have popped up within the Vintage/Old School communities.

I agree that Stu would be great. I think it would also bring out some of the folks who haven't been back to Rockford the past few years. I might even get my older brother to finally come with me since he sported the Proline and the red/white/black leathers back in the day.
I do agree that we are probably due a race speaker vs. freestyle, but I also wouldn't mind hearing from an "industry" speaker like Lin Kastan or Richard Hutchins. Now that we are "adults" it would be interesting to hear from someone who was an adult back in the day and hear how the business side of BMX really took off. When OM spoke years ago, I found the industry information as interesting as the racing side of the presentation.

I'd like to see & hear Stu AND Linn Kastan for a Redline oldschool double whammy. I've always liked Stu and always thought Linn was the most innovative bike/part maker whether it was Redline or his own Kastan brand.

Bob,
I totally agree with you on the Kastan or Hutchins as a speaker. It would be great hearing the history of our beloved sport from the "adults" of yesteryear.I like you, enjoy hearing about how, what where and why they chose to do things the way they did.

I think that Stu would be fantasitc, what a legend.
I was also thinking about someone who seems to get overlooked a lot, John Kerr, photographer for BMXPlus. He's been around BMX & Freestyle for a long time, he'd have some great pictures and I can only imagine the stories that guy would have.

I talked to Stu at the NBL Grands and he said he would be totally into it...IF he could get the time off work.
He was going to check on that and get back to me (didn't want to say anything here before it was confirmed, but since this thread reared up...)
And Strike, John WOULD be a great guy to have as well. He has some amazing stories, alright.
More to come!

Toby Henderson!!!!!!!! That guy is FUN!!! and still involved in this wonderful sport. I was watching Supercross races over the weekend on cable and every single racer had a THE plate. Did Toby supply those gratus? Great idea!
He is a great man! Even if has been called "A legend in his own mind" LOL
I broke a Z rim at Rockford 2005 messing around on my ELF 24" after the bunnyhop contest. Afterward Toby was giving me crap about riding Z rims. It was worth braking it and hurting myself to get the ribbing from him.
Again, TOBY has a vote from me. I am sure his presentation would entertain.
(Of course little can top Greg Hill in 2004 IMO)
Can anyone list all the presenters since the beginning with the year?
If I recall:
2003 -Scot Breithaupt? (or was he earlier?)
2004 -Greg Hill
2005 -Bob Osborn
2006 -Harry Leary? (I missed this year)
2007 -Bob Haro
2008 -Woody Itson
Utterback would be really cool too.

I know he has stories that weren't told on the Joe Kid vid that we all want to hear. his years of racing from the 70's till now have to be ledgendary.

I couldn't agree more. Without the top companies giving us great product, I don't know if I would've ever gotten into bmx. I stared at the product ads and admired the design and engineering more than following any particular racer or how he did at the previous National.
Unfortunately, I doubt Richard Hutchins would do it (but you'd need A LOT bigger banquet room if he did!). However, I got the impression from Rick and Warren that Skip Hess is an extremely outgoing and nice guy that's willing to help.

Y0u would need the Cajun from Louisiana. How could you get anyone else? He came from an area in which the South was never thought to have existed in BMX. He went west and crushed those boys for sometime. His efforts must not go unnoticed.
My guess speaker would be DD Leonne.
