1976 mag scrambler

Has anyone ever seen a scrambler with "Winchester" painted on the frame? I just picked this up and it doesn't seem to have been customized at all but the gold annodized parts, v-bars, and Mag Scrambler decal missing on the frame have me confused.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

IMO it has been "customized" because the front sprocket is a non Schwinn part. the cranks look shorter than 6.5 inches as well. 6.5 inch cranks were standard for scrambler models.

I'm curious as to the 76 date on it. It almost looks to me like a later Giant Made Schwinn and if so, the sprocket and crank are correct. Are those Lee-Chi brakes?

There should be a sticker on the seat tube that says where it's made

they didn't have that style of frame yet, did they, in 1976?

That is a later bike indeed.

It was made in Tiawan. So it's probably 82, I assume? and the Mags must have been left over or added later? The brakes don't have that name on them and the only item with any marking is the washer, and it has chang.... something or other on it.

Thanks for the info!!!
