Mike,

Those haircuts scream 1980's. Cool picture though. I have a picture that was a "studio picture" when I was about 8 years old. Its a close up of me in my jersey with my hand resting on my helmet while looking off in the distance. I have no idea where it is but it was hanging on my mom living room wall for years. It was bad.

Mike was a fast dude! I remember growing up in Ohio and hearing the name out in front all the time. Didn't you guys have some old motorhome your dad brought to the big races? I remember going to your house after a state race or Nat'l..........years ago 85 or 86 maybe

Yes. This was taken in 1982. Tommy NEVER lived down the perm and how it turned his hair red(ish). He was 15, I was 13, Dad was 34. My cousin Sean was 17...

Hamilton Cyclery was my first real sponsor. They picked up the entire family in 1981. In 1983 Tommy, dad and I joined Whitman's. I still remember driving 20 miles up to the bike shop in Dayton, OH just to hang out. I used to LOVE looking through the inventory, reading magazines and "helping" assemble the new bikes. Whitman's Bike Shop had one heck of a team for a number of years. It seemed like everyone from Ohio would end up riding for Whitmans' or DK eventually. I remember being part of Whitman's NBL national championship team in 1985???? and winning the van with NBL National Champion painted on the side. I was picked up by World Class Racing about 2 months later and never got to ride in the thing! The entire Whitman family was a class act and coach Nardie was THE BEST to travel with.

If you think the hair in this one is bad, I have one from 1984 that is just TOO embarrassing to scan in.

did you get dq'd for taking the short cut?
The Red Baron
Does this count?

My sponsor was starting up a new organization and hired the "Great and Powerful Oz" (Bob Osborn) to shoot some pictures for the rule book. This first one is the cover, 'not' shot in a studio.

This next picture was on the inside of the cover. It was sort-of shot in a studio, if you can say that a posed picture staged in Bob's garage is a studio. cool.gif

Not really a promotional shot, but I had my senior pictures taken with my old ELF. My parent's still have it hanging up.
